Natural Birth

Water birth hospital, midwife recommendations in Atlanta, VBAC

Ok Mommas, here's the deal, I need some help. I am expecting my second little one July 31. I want a VBAC, my first ob/gyn has of course already told me the "fabulous risks". I had my first son at Northside, which was good since I got a touch of Group B Strep (had the test done 2 times at old ob and they still missed it!). I'm just looking for something more natural this time. I want a water birth, after extensive research I see that North Fulton Regional and Atlanta Medical Center are the only options in Atlanta, I'm just having a hard time deciding on a midwife practice. I have seen many good reviews on Atlanta Midwifery and Intown Midwifery. So I need opinions and experiences please. T.Y.I.A.

Re: Water birth hospital, midwife recommendations in Atlanta, VBAC

  • I just had my second delivery over the weekend at AMC with Intown Midwifery. In 2012 I had a great experience and have recommended it to many since then. This time the birth went great and I took home a healthy and perfect baby, but I really got frustrated with the hospital being such an inefficient, unorganized mess. Best example, after discharge it took 45 min for the wheelchair to show up to take us to the door, while my husband idled the car in front, and I wasn't permitted to carry my own baby out instead. After this time, if we ever have a third, I will only go back to AMC only if there is no other water birth option in Atlanta. I love Intown midwifery but they are getting so popular that it is getting much harder to schedule appointments and you have to wait a lot longer for your turn at each appointment. The doctor who oversees them (bootstaylor) is wonderful.
