UPDATE: Trying not to cry

The results just came back from the M21 test. The baby has Down's syndrome. I need to come in for another u/s so they can take a more thorough look at the baby's heart. They gave me an option of an Amnio but I just don't know how I feel about that right now. My mind and heart and shock right now. Thank you ladies for all of the thoughts and prayers.

Huge hugs - I know it must be hard to get that news.

For what it's worth, I'm not sure what more the amnio would tell you. It would likely confirm the M21 results, so if you need the confirmation, that would be for that, but I'm not sure it
Is necessary.

Lots of thoughts and prayers- I can't imagine what you're going through and how difficult it must be but you'll do great. For what it's worth- I have worked in special ed and kids with Downs syndrome are some of the sweetest and most thoughtful. Stay strong

Lots of prayers and hugs. The Maternity21 does have false positives and you hear of some of them on babycenter. After the level 2 ultrasound, I would do the amnio just to be 100% sure. But of course, its your decision.

FWIW, my uncle had Down syndrome and he was the sweetest, most awesome person in my life. He had absolutely nothing but love to give to every single person he met and truly brightened everyone's day! There's so much support out there now and I'm sure everything will work out just fine.

Big hugs to you as you process the news. Once the dust settles and you are able to get connected to support groups, I hope that you are able to realize how very special your child is and what a wonderful mama you will be to him. I have had the privilege of working with adults with DS (varying levels of functioning) and they were all so amazing and I got so much more out of the relationship then they did. They inspired me daily.

Everything will be okay and you are so lucky to have such a special little baby inside of you!!
My mom had cerebral palsy (paralyzed from the waist down) so I have spent a lot of time around special needs kids and was a T.A for a special education class. Let me tell you it was some of the best times of my life!! They are so full of love and not hate and genuinely care about others. You will learn and grow so much and your heart will be filled with so much love like never before!! Lots of hugs to you, cuz I know this new journey might seem scary, but you will love the person you turn into because of it! xoxox
