Has anyone seen those cute hosiptal gowns that you can buy? My mom thinks they're cool, and asked if I wanted one. To me, cost and use don't add up. I'll only wear it in the hospital.
Has anyone bought or used one before? Worth it or no? Thanks!
I bought several wore them in the hospital and at home for awhile while I was recovering. I was covered they were comfy easy for nursing and I didnt ruin any of my regular clothes. I am buying another 2 to take with me to the hospital this time. I bought mine from an etsy shop and she is awesome with customer service and products she even does matching sets for you and baby if you want me to link her shop I will be happy to
I made my own. I found a guideline of how to cut and sew it. I went cloth shopping and I loved it! I also wore it at home when my c/s scar was bothering me.
Before I got pregnant I was hell bent on making my own cute ones. Now? I can't make myself care enough to. I ended up seeing a group of midwives, not an OB so I'm not sure they'll even make me wear a gown and DH and I live away from friends and family so it would only be cute for photos, no real guests. Maybe if my nesting phase continues after I run out of projects?
I did, because I wanted to and it was adorable. ETA: I only labored in it. Pushed in just a nursing sports bra and wore a hospital issued gown right after. Actually went though 2 because I pee'd one. "> Then it was target nursing tanks and Pink yoga pants form when I could walk/shower until I needed to and could button my jeans to go somewhere. Until I got home from that and went back to my comfy clothes.
Hospital gowns are the worst, especially if you are a small girl like me. I felt like I was wearing a scratchy tent! I suffered through and wore it during L and D, but had my own cute nightgown for once I got to my own room. Felt much much better.

I also hate that they expose my butt! lol I'm self conscious about it!
I like the ones at my hospital because they're a nice soft flannel. I never felt the need to wear a gown at home; instead I opted for a few sets of comfortable nursing PJs.
I would def not wear that shiz while laboring/delivering, but after a shower it would've be fan freaking tastic not to be in that stiffass hospital gown. I wore my own light, loose cotton pjs but would've worn a nice hospital gown in the hospital and for the first few weeks at home to help with recovery and nursing.
I wound up in the hospital this weekend (long story, posted on PgAL) and thoroughly enjoyed flashing DH my bare butt every time I got up. I don't personally think it's worth it to buy your own since I'll be out of it as soon as they allow me to get up and shower. I would rather be in comfy clothes than any sort of gown.
I had one of these (link below) for my first birth and just bought another for this time around. The fabric is luscious and I felt much better in it than a hospital gown. The birthing center where I'm plan in got birth does not provide hospital gowns anyway. I did not wear it to push (was just out of the tub). Wore it a ton pp, too. Hopefully this time I'll push in the water so I won't have it on then either!
I used a nursing gown from Motherhood Maternity post delivery, after my first shower. It definitely felt good to be out of the hospital gown - felt much more like myself. I wore the hell out of that thing once we got home so I'll probably buy a couple this time around.
I have to wear a hospital gown for my C/S, and then prefer to wear the nursing pajamas that come as a set with long pants, nursing tank, and robe/wrap top to go over the tank when visitors come.
This is a trend I don't get. I don't want to spend money on something to wear once & have to take that skeeze home to wash. I will also not be having a birth photographer or my hair done for the birth, and DH will not be in special monogrammed daddy scrubs. I wore a gown for the first day PP (I was on a Mag infusion, super out of it & not allowed out of bed). I refused visitors that day, then showered & wore nursing tanks & yoga pants the rest of my stay. No shade to those that want these, but it's NMS.
I'm going to buy a couple $12 nursing gowns from Walmart, but..that's probably it. I'll probably take a pair of pajamas I have that has a button-up top, too, so that should get me through my stay..hopefully. Plus, my sister is a whiz at sewing and creating, so if I decide I want a cute gown, she could make me one pretty easily, I think.
I honestly could not have cared less what I was wearing while laboring. And afterwards, the hospital gowns didn't bother me, but I only wore them for the first night and then put my own yoga pants/nursing tank on.

I ended up not wearing anything during L&D and after that I just used the hospital ones. The ones at my hospital don't expose butts and were actually really soft and comfy. I'll probably do the same thing this time around. I can't see a good reason to spend that kind of money on something I don't think I'd actually use.
If mom ends up buying me one, I'll wear it. I thought maybe it'd help with being comfortable instead of being in a regular and possibly itchy hospital gown. Plus, they are cute! I might just opt for the traditional gown during L&D, then switch to nursing jammies like some of you have suggested.
Just FYI for you FTMs, pants are not a great option after giving birth. If you have a vaginal delivery they will need to check your stitches if you have an episiotomy. Also if you have a c section I can't imagine pants would be comfy on an incision. This is why a nightgown makes sense.
I hated the hospital gown last time and I've made a little girls version of this dress so the adult can't be too much more trouble We'll see if it gets done though.

Obviously personal preference but I much preferred being in pants. I had a second degree tear stitches and glorious hemorrhoids that were checked once a day. I don't remember pants impeding that. andplusalso I liked everything (pad, ice pack) being held in by pants.
Our Bradley teacher recommended getting those towel-like swim suit coverups that are super cheap for labor. Then it's no big deal when it gets messy & tossed.
NOT during labor and delivery...it makes NO sense to me to wear something cute, of my own, that could be covered in blood, amniotic fluid, meconium, etc... I went through 4 gowns during labor. 4. I guess I could see in recovery? But I was perfectly fine in pajama pants and a zip up hoodie over a nursing tank.
I am going to be doing a water birth, so I will be investing in a comfortable and sporty bikini top (getting out of a wet sports bra just seems like a pain in the ass). After the birth I'll probably just wrap up in a towel. For after I shower I am bringing a nice robe that I can lounge around in while at the birth center. For going home I will be bringing a tank top, hoodie, and some yoga pants. The birthing center releases mom and baby three hours post birth so that is all I need.
If I were going to be going the hospital route I would probably would get myself a hospital gown because I want to be comfortable and covered up.
