My daughter is the cling monster

She only wants me, only wants me to pick her up, put her to bed ...

Dh keeps trying to help but she keeps saying no, just mommy. Normally I would love it, but at 37+ Weeks and she weighs 32 pounds it is a lot.

Anyone else have a toddler that has turned into a clingy monster of irresistible but annoying cuteness?

Re: My daughter is the cling monster

  • Yep, my 2 1/2 YO DD is doing something similar. She wants lots of snuggles :)

  • My DD is 2.5 and is the same way! I think she knows her time as an old child is coming to an end.
  • Yep! Mine wants to cuddle with mommy at like 2 and 3 in the morning. As if trying to sleep isn't hard enough when you are 39+ weeks pregnant, now I have a toddler running in my room a few times a night. I love cuddling with her, but can it be during the day please??

  • My 3 year old has been like this, especially at school drop off lately where he clings to my legs and won't let go. My belly keeps knocking him in the head, but he doesn't seem phased. But he also likes to give hugs and kisses to the baby in my belly and is super excited about becoming a big brother, so I think he knows change is coming...but isn't sure what exactly to make of it all.

  • DD has been like this for a few weeks now. I can't put her in a cart when we go shopping without there being a huge meltdown. If DH touches me she screams.
  • Glad to know I'm not alone. It seems to happen most when I have contractions. I keep hoping its a sign and she senses labor is coming but alas

  • My 2 year old is all about me. He could care less if my husband wants a hug. It is like he knows the baby is coming soon

  • Yep! She wants me to carry her everywhere! Not possible. I love the attention but hope this doesn't mean we will have a mommy-sharing problem starting this Thurs when LO comes!
  • My 2YO went into full melt down mode yesterday because she couldn't fit on mommy's lap like she wanted to.  I've noticed the increased clinginess over the last 2 weeks.  I love the snuggles, but the abuse to the belly is torture!  Luckily, she's very petite at 23lbs, and I can still pick her up and give her big hugs.

  • Omg yes!! Our DD who just turned 2 last week has dove head first into the terrible 2's. Her new favorite things are to shush us, finger over her lips and all to tell us no more talking or no more... Whatever she doesn't care to see or hear anymore.
I have a separated pubic bone and carrying her is NOT and option. She screams and throws herself down when I offer my hand. She will not allow daddy to pick her up. She stopped going potty by herself and now needs "help" getting undressed and up on the toilet.
Can't even say after this DD is born it'll be better as I'm having a c-section.
