Not weird but she received a whole lot of 'baby's first Christmas' ornaments! She lucked out though and received a lot of lovely gifts and nothing lame or tacky.
Oh that reminded me! I got some Christmas outfits from a family friend that are 12 months. They'll fit next year...lol. Also I know she is too little to open them but I found it odd that my parents did wrap any of LOs gifts.
MIL gave me some pirate ceramic thing to put on LO's wall in his room. It doesn't match what I have going on right now AT ALL…grrr…SIL also bought him prints that are very baby cutesy 1982. His room has grey walls and all of the art work is bright and more modern…sigh.
We really lucked out on not getting strange gifts (so far!) this year. My mom is a wacko so we'll see what she sent when it comes on Friday. She kept telling me the stuff for DS was for 'the baby.' Like she doesn't know his name or something!? She has never met him yet, so I think she forgot! Weird. SIL got DD a giant tent. Thanks SIL. I wasn't planning on walking in my living room anymore anyway. She knows better!

My grandmom gave my daughter a Noah's ark ornament with the year 2012 on it!, we all laughed and since she can't hear well had no idea why. I told her that it said 2012 & she replied "yes, it's her first christmas" we all informed her that it was 2013 and she was like " oh well, she was conceived on 2012". WHAT!
No odd Christmas presents (yet), but after Caleb was born, a friend got us a gift for him but had to give it to DH's parents to give to us, and when we opened it (in front of them), they decided they liked it and that it was a "toy for grandma and grandpa's house." It's a neat little pull toy but apparently we aren't allowed to take it home. Because "he's going to need fun toys to play with when he comes over here!" WTF. I don't feel like it's their right to decide it stays there, but I had no idea what to say! Now I feel like it's too late.
DS got an adult sized hooded towel that is bright pink with an orange peace sign. We still have 3 more family get togethers, so who knows what else we'll get!
We got a baby lap top that makes noise and sings. She probably won't use that for a few months. A teddy bear that does a bunch of things for 6mo+ and we got a TON of 12 mo clothes.
Nothing weird but I think the most unique gift we got was from DH's step-grandmother. It's a kit to make your baby's handprint into an ornament. I think it's cute!
Baby food, lots of it. My MIL really wants me to stop EBFing so she can feed LO. And she is trying to convince me to "just buy canned baby food because it's easier" because I mentioned that I plan on making my own baby food. That may be true, but let me make that decision myself.

Ugh, annoying. I'd donate it and never mention it to her.
This. I'm not really sure what it is... a frog man thing? It's really big and rubbery and it squeaks, I think it might be a dog toy. I'm not being ungratefuland DD may end up loving it, it's just such a strange face and my dog is terrified of it! DD isn't too fond of it either, right now, lol

MIL got DS1 a tent too. She had it set up in the middle of the living room, but we moved it to the basement living room pretty quickly. That night one of our cats peed in it... lovely. At least it gave us an excuse not to leave it up all the time like MIL wanted.

I am laughing so hard at my desk that there are tears in my eyes. I think the bolded is what got me. And I agree it appears to be a dog toy.

That is seriously creepy looking. I think Goodwill might need one.

I can't stop looking at it. The frog man thing has me in tears, I can't breath! Your dog being afraid is a sign.
Haha, right?! Thank goodness the frog man thing was a present we brought home and opened, I'm not sure what we would have done if we had to open it in front of the person who gave it to us!
