So, I am wondering how everyone is preparing foods that are regarded as 'high allergy risk' and foods with citrus?
My husband and I have been feeding Connor eggs since 6 months, but what I didn't know is that my husband thought it was the yolk that he couldn't have and was just feeding him the whites. Luckily he wasn't allergic to them, but I am wondering if everyone here who says they make scrambled eggs means both the white and the yolk?
If you have introduced fish them, how did you prepare it? What about shellfish?
Also, I would like to introduce my addiction, oranges, to him but I am also afraid he will break out (because I do if I eat too much), he has really sensitive skin.
Re: Solids Discussion
The only foods we are still waiting on are honey, nuts, and shellfish at the advice of the pedi.
I didn't want to wait long on fish and eggs because those are such healthy foods that we have regularly. I just introduced it slowly. I have always made fish twice a week either pan seared, baked, or steamed. He has had talapia, cod, tuna, salmon, catfish, and swai. He loves it all! No problems either.
Citrus has always given me terrible indigestion but I love it so I waited with him as well. We actually tried oranges for the first time yesterday and he really liked it. I gave it to him in slices and he chewed on them but he only actually ate one. No side effects so far.
We'll probably just give small amounts of the foods plain and then cross our fingers and stare at her for a reaction. Lol.
My niece has a peanut butter allergy and I really hope my children have no food allergies! My poor niece started school (5 yrs old) and sits at a table by herself at lunch for kids with food allergies. So sad to me but I understand the precaution.
@ClandestineX , as for egg ideas. We do a lot of scrambled eggs but I also make egg/veggie omelets and frittatas for her.
