Maddox is having some breathing issues. We have had two scares today with him wheezing and then choking up on mucousy spit. I'm a huge ball of anxiety right now. He has to be taken into a newborn clinic tomorrow morning to get weighed because he is so small. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that everything is all right and that I'm just being over cautious and paranoid.

T and P. I'm afraid I don't know the backstory- did you have a c-section? Often babies are more mucousy after a section because vaginal birth clears their lungs more. My DS had some mucous for that reason and it was scary but all was ok-- hope it's the same for you.

Think of baby Maddox. I hope it clears up soon but I'm glad to see you'll have a doctor take a look at him. Try to stay calm until tomorrow, no matter how hard it's going to be.

@bellamatson. My lo had the same thing. He had amniotic fluid in his belly. He would appear to be choking/gagging and then spit up mucous/spit/foamy stuff. It is common in c-sections and fast moving vaginally deliveries. Prayers that is all it is!

@bellamatson I hope that is what it is. It def sounds like it. Our nurses told us about it bc we were concerned. It lasted a lil over a week before he completely stopped. Fx!

I hope everything clears up for maddox. I had a similar scare last night (and i also had a really quick vaginal delivery). DD was gagging on her mucus. I put her on her stomach across my lap and burped her until she hacked it up. I was so scared. Her little face was bright red and she just kept gagging. But after she spit it all up she was as serene as an angel. Being a new mommy is so scary. Hang in there!

@ljessen13 It brings both my and DH to tears. We get so freaked out. He has gained a ounce back in 1 day which is good, but his jaundice level is still intermediate high. Ugh. Little man needs to poop more to clear his system.

We have another dr appointment tomorrow too, so we shall see what happens then also.

Thinking about baby Maddox! I can't imagine how stressful that is. Nathaniel choked in the hospital after spitting up and being lethargic from his circ. The lactation consultants were in there with me at the time and she immediately grabbed him and flipped him over. It hit me I had no idea how I would have reacted if I was alone, and it panicked me...I hope everything gets figured out with your little man and that his jaundice starts clearing up. Nate has slightly elevated bili levels as well

Update: he seems to be doing a lot better.

He pooped so much today, I am hoping that at tomorrow's bilirubin reading, they will be able to say he is making lots of progress and that the jaundice is almost gone.

No more choking has happened. Thank Goodness
