So, I made the mistake of thinking I could go to Walmart the night before a storm to get some food. This is what I found in just about every isle...
That's what our grocery stores look like every time there is a hurricane. We don't buy baking goods either because there is usually no electricity so you can't really cook anything.
I know we don't have snow so there's no "snowed in" here but were going to have two nights of a hard freeze. We haven't had one in this house yet and I've got to get outside and wrap the pipes and somehow protect my palm trees. This just isn't normal for us. If I had as much snow as some of y'all have I'd never leave my house.
I was watching our radar around 1 am and I didn't think we were even going to get hit with this. It's a good thing I am not a meteorologist because it arrived a little later than predicted (around 5:30 a.m.). Big beautiful snowflakes!

I am from Indiana too. I went to the grocery yesterday to get munchies for the colts game. Good thing chips and salsa aren't considered essentials! DH shoveled the driveway for the first time at 1. By the time he finished, you couldn't tell he had shoveled the top part at all. Here is a shot of our backyard with a little over a foot of snow.
I am in Northern Indiana. We have about 12" so far and still going strong. It is suppose to dump another 6-12 before it stops at like 1am tonight.
I am suppose to be heading to Detroit area (3ish hr drive) tomorrow with my boss for 3 days for a bunch of meetings. I keep waiting to get a call or text saying we aren't going. No such luck yet
Im near Terre Haute. We had roughly 10" when I went out at 4:30. Its still coming down and the temps have plummeted. The wind is getting crazy too! DH was using the snow blower and you couldn't even tell he had touched it when he was finished.

I live in Mid-Michigan and just finished shoveling for the 3rd time today -- and I will have to shovel at least once more tonight, if not twice, and then who knows how many times tomorrow.
We already have had 13" of snow fall -- fun, right -- and it's supposed to snow this hard until noon tomorrow, when it then turns into winds of 35 mph with temps near -20. Seriously, WTF!?!? We have no snow blower so all our shoveling is done by hand. I am burning some majorass calories today.
On top of it -- we are literally out of space to put the snow! That means we are having to hand shovel it three time further than we normally do in order to pile it up in a place where we have room for it. Again, fun right. lol
I just hope that my husband (police officer) and the rest of our first responders, including all the tow men/women out there working stay safe!!
It's getting pretty bad out around here. One of my patio chairs got knocked over and either a bird came and stole it (only logical explanation since there are no footprints) or it's completely hidden under the snow.
I tried to take a picture, but all you could see was white.

Yep! I was supposed to be flying from OH back to sunny CA tonight, but our flight got delayed till tomorrow morning at 6am. I'm hoping desperately that we actually get to fly out without another delay, but it's such a toss up with the incoming expected weather. Boooooo.
nikiz628jillybean7582 SE Indiana here- we got mostly rain all morning/early afternoon. Turned to freezing rain, then snow. We got about 4 inches pretty quick. Now all kinds of wind and blowing snow. Glad we didn't get as much as you all. Stay safe up there!
@lmdonnel I saw that on the radar! We are still kicking up here. Haven't lost power yet, but its -18 with windchill. The winds are so creepy sounding too. Whistling and cold! You be safe as well!

As a teacher I have a love hate relationship with snow days. These things are only fun if you don't have to make them up in June in a 100 degree classroom.

We still have power but its getting colder and colder. My county and all surrounding counties are under a state of emergency and all roads are closed to everyone except emergency workers.
The hospitals and mills are operating under a no one in and no one out for all employees. Weather channel is calling for more snow throughout the afternoon unilt midnight. Although I think only flurries.
The plows can't get even major roads cleared because of a combination of 8-10ft snow drifts and abandoned vehicles. Its a mess. I haven't seen a storm like this since I was a fresman in HS 15 years ago.
Needless to say I will not be traveling to Detroit for work tonight. Enjoying my extra day of the weekend to cuddle my DS.
Yeah. We've got -13 and with the wind chill -40. Not even worth walking outside. I feel bad that h has to work today.

Luckily DH got a text last night saying no work today. That NEVER happens. But he is a volunteer fireman, so if anyone goes out being stupid, he has to go out and save them lol.
