I NEVER feel good...

My stomach is never feeling good.  I am 7 weeks and I am either nauseous or have gas cramps.  I was eating saltines for the nausea and that was working but now the thought of them makes me feel sick.  Any suggestions?  I work full time and I am having a hard time getting through the day.

Re: I NEVER feel good...

  • Pure peppermint tea
    Pure ginger tea
Hard candy (sour jolly ranchers worked for me)

Try something high in protein (PB & gram crackers is a good combo). Often nausea is worse if too full or too empty.

  • Try your best to stay hydrated, and rest as much as you can, when you can. Ginger ale, Powerade (B6 helps combat nausea), any bland foods you can keep down, really. If that fails, try taking a B6 supplement with Unisom. Check with your doctor first, but I am cleared to take 25 mg doses for both pills up to three times a day. If that fails, talk to your doctor about prescription anti-emetics. I hope you feel better soon!
  • Gin gin candies help me with my nausea. As PP recommended, B6 also works wonders for me, 25mg with each meal is what my doctor has me taking,

  • Oooo, I forgot one. In the realm of sour candy, War Heads are fantastic. Especially the lemon flavored ones. They helped me so much!
  • Like others have said, try to not let your stomach get too empty.  That's when I feel the worst.  Powerade has helped me a ton.  Usually salty things calm my stomach and for some reason Swedish fish.  I know, not the healthiest diet, but we just gotta get through this feeling gross part!

Have you tried smoothies?  A girl on the Sept. thread suggested it and this morning I made one with frozen berries, greek yogurt, spinach, flax seed (to help with constipation), and milk.  It really helped settle my stomach and was easy to get down.  Maybe give those a try?

  • Preggie Pop Drops and Psi Bands Acupressure Wrist Band have been a god sent for me so far! I hadn't eaten anything more than crackers and grapes for 3 days and was able to eat chicken noodle soup AND a chicken salad sandwich my first day with them! Amazing!
  • I have found that small snacks of protein, not carbs help the most (I was sick 20 weeks with my first). Peanut butter with apples, string cheese, 1/2 a turkey sandwich, almonds etc.

  • My doctor told me to take b6 and she also told me to try the Preggie Pops and those have been magical for me.

  • I feel your pain! The bloating and gas(burps!) and nausea is so awful some days. I just talked with my best friend who is also pregnant but a few months ahead of me about this yesterday because it has gotten so uncomfortable. Her recommendations to me were: ginger tea or ginger ale (which works for the nausea if you can stomach it), hard peppermint candy, sea bands, and just trying to eat a little something very often. Bread/bagels/crackers for something bland. For me, chicken noodle soup and fruits have been my go tos the last few days. GOOD LUCK.
  • Thank you everyone for the help!
