    Emmett says:
    Mama
    Dada
    Doggie
    Car
    Poop
    All done
    Uh oh
    Hot
    Hi
    Peek-a-boo
    ETA:
    Fish
    Cracker
    Tickle
    Dexter (our dog)

There may be others but I'm forgetting right now.

  • Um...not much. He says Mama and that's pretty much all he can say. He babbles all the time, but no clear words. My MIL swears she heard him say dog, but I dunno about that. But he's great at telling us he needs a diaper change! He pats himself and grabs our hands and brings us to his room!

  • Alice also "says" a lot of stuff that most people wouldn't understand if they didn't spend all day with her. But she can get her point across for:
    Mama
    Dada
    Duke (ILs dog)
    Nana
    Gaga (grandma, grandpa, papa)
    More
    All done/all gone
    Here you go
    thank you
    xbox
    this
    that
    night-night

This is us.  Is Henry supposed to be saying words now???

Sometimes he says "boo" to mean "book," I guess.  Maybe I'm just not paying attention.  He gestures a lot more than he uses words that resemble actual English.  He is a talker, though...just usually of non-sense and babbles.

E started saying more words just recently and he was a September baby, not sure how old your LO is but language booms happen pretty fast from my experience. I don't think it's anything to worry about though :) Our pedi was like whoa! when I said he said 10.

  • @ziegeficker yeah, xbox was her first word besides mama/dada. Because we win at parenting. Lol

she hides the xbox remote, so I use voice commands a lot. She's learned that when I say xbox, the tv does fun things. ;)

  • Here's what we have so far:
    Mama
    dada
    up
    boom
    moo
    door
    ball
    button
    belly button
    bubbles
    wow
    uh oh
    all done
    bye bye
    this
    shoe
    banana
    beep
    eye
    siren noise (for fire truck)
    bark noise (for dogs)

At this age I think animal noises/sounds count as words? These are all ones he uses consistently.

  • Most of Alexis' words only we understand. For dog she says dadoo, or dahdoo. She also says shoe or Jew for juice. She says mama and dada. She also says something that sounds like thank you. She also says uh oh. The other day she said a babbled sentence with different syllables instead of her just repeating one or two syllables.

  • He has said a few ball go up but the only things he says consistently are momma and dada.

  • Wanted to add that her understanding is phenomenal. She'll follow instructions when I use words for objects she doesn't know.

  • yeah, she says no words. no mama or dada, although she makes those sounds and constantly babbles it's not directed at anything. but she understands and can follow directions.

she does say "da?" while pointing, which we take to mean "look at that thing." it's usually a cat.
  • I think this is everything she can say and then there is tons of jibberish babble.
    mama & Mommy
    dada & daddy
    dog
    cat
    hi
hi daddy - not hi mommy.
    All dee- for all done
    pop pop
    mom mom
    uh oh
    whats that
    here
    thank you
mi mi (my moms dog mia)
    Riley (my brothers dog)

  • J is obsessed with the word flower. It is relentless.

I think she has 15-20 overall. More if you count words she "says" but doesn't mean. Like if you start the music for row row row your boat she'll say "row row row row row".

Like others what Elijah says is clear to me, but I'm not sure it would be 100% clear to others.

    He says,

    Mama
    Dada
    Up
    Down
    Outside
    Dog
    Cat
    Ball
    Hot
    plow truck
    Mud
    llama

About 12 that we recognize: God, MaMa, Dada, tanx (aka Thanks, clap, up,i get, hi, yes, bed (aka bread), baba (aka bottle)
Oh yeah Abt (aka what he calls his aunt)
He countlessly babbles his baby talk though and totally lets us know what he wants and understands directional stuff we say to him. Its amazing

  • G says around 25- 30 words/phrases. D at this age was barely saying mama and dad. He's now doing just fine in 2nd grade. I think they all just learn at their own pace. Plus I think 2nd+ children usually talk sooner since they always have an older sib babbling at them!!

Some of my favs of G's:

Christmas tree (sounds like tismas tee)
    Thank you
    Uh oh
    Bath
    Duck
Feed the piggies (what I say when trying to get him to let me put his socks on)

    Book
    Milk
    Tickle tickle (while tickling himself)
Bebo ( which sounds more like baby. It was awesome explaining to my mom why he kept pointing to my belly and saying baby. No mom I'm not KU again. )
Hat - in reference to anything on his head
