Wake the baby??

I'm sure we've discussed this, but I'm mobile and it's impossible to search on my windows phone. Anyways, Trevor last ate at 9:45am. It's now 1:25pm our time. Should I wake him to eat, or wait until he wakes himself up? We had a pretty sleepless night, and this is the longest he's gone without eating since after his circumcision. FTM and not sure what to do. TIA!

  • If he's regained birth weight I wouldn't wake him but that's just me

He has passed birth weight, did so at 10 days old. He's now 19 days old.

Yep. This is what I do. Except I set my alarm for 5 hours at night for the sake of my boobs. We always have to wake her at night except the one night she wiggled her hands out of her swaddler and woke herself up with them.

Ugh, I'm jealous! My LO wakes me every 1.5-2.5 hours at night... Sometimes earlier if he just wants to be held. :'(

  • Personally I would wake him. Although I also would not blame you for letting him sleep if you choose to do that.

  • I would wake him just for the sake of you getting some sleep tonight. That way he might get his days and nights back to a good schedule.

I probably wouldn't wake him just yet. I'd give it another hour and see if he wakes on his own but that's jmo.

  • My pedi said once LO was back at her birth weight (she was last week) to let her sleep at night if she will sleep longer than 3 hours, but during the day not to let her go longer than 3 hours. So we always wake her during the day.

  • I don't usually wake my LO during the day unless he goes over 4 hours or so because if he is really tired it is almost impossible to get him to stay awake to nurse so it just ends up being more trouble than it's worth. He's pretty good at waking up when he's hungry.

  • I wake during the day if I need to (anywhere from 3-4 hours max).  I do this so that she isn't getting her longest stretch of sleep during the day vs getting it at night.

  • I also wake LO during the day, but not at night. I usually don't let her go more than 3-3.5 hours during the day.
