May 2014 Moms

Sloppy mama

I feel like on a day to day basis, I am going to be dressing sloppy when I'm a mom. I just think that I'll want comfort over style, and I'll be top-naked much of the time anyway, so when at home why would I bother to look good unless someone was coming? I don't love the idea, but it seems practical. I'm no fashion plate now,  but I don't know what I'll wear to nurse. I have a hard enough time finding clothes when not pregnat/nursing due to my large size.

  • I live in hoodies and cargo pants. I just layer the hoodies with a nursing tank when BFing.

  • Oh no way could I do that for a spring/summer baby! I would die of heat stroke.

  • I switch to cargo shorts in summer.

  • I've seen tutorials online to make regular tank tops into nursing tanks that attach to your nursing bra. Several of the moms in my LLL group wore nursing tank under a tshirt. Pretty much nothing shows when you nurse until baby starts pulling away randomly to look at things.
  • Thankfully flannel and jeans is my pre-preg look, so I plan on keeping my wardrobe the same when the bub gets here.

  • I plan to continue living in my maternity pants and tops/adding in some summery dresses when LO is born. I probably won't change out of my PJ's unless I'm leaving the house.

On my last maternity leave I lived in pj pants and a nursing tank, sometime I threw a shirt of some sort over that if I got cold.

  • I stayed in my maternity clothes for a couple months pp. I also had bought some hospital gowns from etsy which were great to wear around the house after I got home from the hospital

  • Since I had a summer LO before and will again, I lived in big basketball shorts. I got some regular clothes but you had to be special to see me in those. I've always preferred pajamas and yoga pants of regular clothes but I wouldn't say I'm sloppy just comfy :)

  • I wore pajamas (like I have always done) but with a nursing cami on (if I had a top on). Throw a cardigan over top if the AC gets too cold or just a bit more modesty if guests are there.

The cami I bought had nice thick straps. I need to buy a couple more for this pg.
