MaterniT21 results

Got good news with our MaterniT21 test reaults, but wondering if anyone has had incorrect gender results? It said that no Y chromosomes were detected and results were consistent with a female fetus, but is there any way that it is too early to detect the presence of Y or should I trust that it is a girl? Thanks!

My friend was told it was a girl but their baby is a boy. Her doc and the testing company freaked out because it had never happened before. It turned out to be a human error. As far as I know they are accurate.

  • I would trust it.

    Yay for great results.

UO? I hate it that so many people get so fixated on the sex of the baby. Even with genetic testing the "error" is extraordinarily low.

The only sure fire way to be 100% certain the sex is when the baby exits your vagina. The only thing closer is a genetic screen like this one.

    Happy, healthy pregnancy.

  • I should clarify....they freaked because of the possibility that the other test results were messed up too. Not because it was a boy instead of a girl.
  • Well, any test could be messed up. Your blood type test could have been wrong. Lab mistakes happen.

You are going to drive yourself nuts if you are going spin everything out into ridiculous "what ifs" like that.

Oh I agree. In this case they took a new sample and ran it. No big deal. Mistakes happen. No matter how hard we try we all still make them.
  • False reports are pretty rare, but if it happens it is because there was not enough Y chromosome in the sample to pick up and detect. I would 99% trust it but certainly ask them to peek to confirm at the anatomy scan.
