High-Risk Pregnancy

Intro

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jessica, I'm due May 17th and I'm team blue. I've lurked on this board for a few weeks now and wanted to finally introduce myself and join the conversations.

I have a history of preeclampsia with my first pregnancy (diagnosed at 35 weeks, put on bedrest until I delivered at 38 weeks via c-section) and have been told I have a 1 in 2 shot of it repeating. I've also got chronic hypertension and have been started on Labetalol, 200mg BID for now.

I hope you all have a great 2014! :)

Hi Jessica! I'm Cyndi with a similar story. Was diagnosed with pre e at 30.2 with dd1 (delivered at 31.0) and am now 25.2 days along with a boy!!! So far. So good. Bp is steady at 105/65 on average. I'm on 250 mg of Methyldopa 1x day and on baby aspirin. I'm wondering why you got quoted such a high possible reoccurrence rate!?!? Statistically, that seems high. I'm also here because I was diagnosed with SUA (single umbilical artery) with this pregnancy. Good luck to you!!!

  • My OB referred me to a high risk OB (the doctor she wanted me to see was unavailable, so I saw a different doctor) for monthly ultrasounds. He said that I have all the risk factors for a repeat, increasing my chances (including having the same father to both children? It was the first I had heard of that one). He also suggested a VBAC and stated I would have a 65% success rate, but if I was successful, I could have more children. He believes that I wouldn't be able to have a third child if I repeat a c-section. I meet with my doc Wednesday and I'm hoping she will have had a chance to review the notes. Sorry for the long response! Haha He threw a lot of information at me and DH during out appointment.
