What are your Christmas dinner plans?

IHO Glad's post about figgy pudding, and because I have two days to decide/prep/shop, what will your Christmas dinner be? When will you be eating it? Any special traditions that you do?

It's our first Christmas on our own, but probably the beginning of a 'tradition,' simply because of DHs job. We are having a few of the guys who can't go home either over for dinner, and I have no idea what to make. I'm *thinking* prime rib, twice baked potatoes, brussel sprouts and crandberry sauce. For dessert-bread pudding with jack daniel's butter sauce :D:D:D I'd really like to keep it fairly cheap though, and I'm not thinking prime rib is the way to go with a bunch of boys. I'm not a big fan of ham as its own main course unless its breakfast. Sooo, I want to see your plans. I'm also thinking about just doing homemade Chinese :/

    Prime rib is NOT the way to go for cheaply feeding a bunch of boys.  I'd either do ham, or tri tip.

    I'm no help here -- we do a huge breakfast (ham, sausage, one or two of pancakes/waffles/french toast, fruit, monkey bread, cheesy potatoes, etc.)

    Then we eat leftover ham for sandwiches for lunch/dinner.

    We do Christmas Eve dinner at my parents house. Here's the menu:

    Ham-with pineapple and brown sugar glaze

    Sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, corn, salad and rolls.

    Dessert is pumpkin pie and zucchini pie (tastes just like apples)

    Mom does the ham, pumpkin pie and sweet potato casserole. I'm bringing the zucchini pie and the mashed potatoes. My brother is bringing corn, salad and rolls. We like to keep it pretty simple and traditional. Mom always has homemade spiced cider to drink and muchies.

    MIL is doing the dinner.  She was going to do lasagna (wtf?), but I think dh convinced her to make a ham.  Other than that I don't know, and she's refusing to let us bring things.

    We eat on Christmas Eve, because there is no way in he!! I'm am spending Christmas Day in the kitchen.  I would much rather enjoy hanging with my DH & kids than slave over a stove.

    That said, we eat ham (DH's fave) with a apple/orange/mustard glaze, mashed garlic potatoes, cranberry sauce, asparagus cassarole (usually), cheddar biscuits, caeser salad, and corn bread stuffing.  Dessert is apple dumplings or apple pie & cookies.

    This year, we are hosting Christmas for the first time!  It will be DH, DS, myself, my parents, mil and bil.  I'm making sage pork loin roast with apple pork gravy (got it from a nestie on what's cooking) with scallopped potatoes and steamed carrots (or a more interesting carrot dish if i find one).  Dessert will be pumpkin pie, apple crisp &/or cookies.

    We're going to do Fondue this year - just cheese and chocolate.  I also considered filet w/ 2x baked potatoes, or rack of lamb.  It's just the 2 of us, though.

    What about a roast chicken or pot roast w/ carrots, onions, and potatoes?  You could fancy it up w/ an herb rub and maybe serve a nice soup course before hand...

    MIL cooks all we bring is my corn casserole...because I make it for every family function and my SIL's and BIL's don't let me in the house with out it.

    Last night's "Christmas" with my Mom's side of the family:

    chicken wings, pizza, cuban sandwiches, chips/dip, cookies. LOL

     

    Christmas Eve with my Dad's side of the family:

    turkey on the grill, mashed potatoes, spinach salad, rolls, corn casserole, apple coffee cake, pumpkin pie

     

    Christmas night with IL's:

    I have no clue, but it's going to be the traditional food. They are a little too fancy for my taste. Thank goodness BIL's girlfriend is coming and she is a vegetarian so I hope they make some better food. Step-FIL used to be a chef, but I'm not too fond of his foods all the time.

    We'll have fondue this year on Christmas eve (cheese and chocolate), andour usual hamloaf with cherry sauce Christmas day (with potatoes, veggies, etc).
