On bedrest for second pregnancy already

I'm 16 weeks pregnant with baby #2. I went to my OB yesterday for a spur of the moment appointment due to some cramping and tightness in my lower abdomen. He thinks it's just round ligament pain causing my issues.

He put me on bedrest just to be safe because I dealt with a lot of preterm labor issues with my son. At 28 weeks I was 2 cm dilated and contracting pretty regularly. I was put on Meds and then bedrest for 8 weeks. I made it to 36w 4d and then I delivered my son after my water broke.

So while baby is fine and it's too early for preterm labor, the thought of bedrest again is freaking me out. I had a couple breakdowns yesterday and this morning.

So just wanted to pop in and say hello. I have a feeling I'll be "hanging out" here like I did for my pregnancy 4 years ago.

Have they done a vaginal cervical length? With that history I would request one. Especially now that you are cramping because preterm labor can actually occur this early. So it is good that you are on bedrest. It could also be a fluke think, but I would want a cervical length just to make sure it is not shortening.

I may ask for that at my Monday appointment. Yesterday the doctor acted like nothing can be done at this point. I see a different doctor Monday morning (have to rotate through them all) and that will be my first topic of discussion. I'm thinking friends of mine have had a cerclage or progesterone shots to prevent preterm labor.
