I might get flamed a little for this. I know when it comes to giving gifts, you're not supposed to expect anything in return... But I have been buying gifts (well, just giving money actually) to my ungrateful nieces and nephews (7 of them ranging from 8 to 22 years old) since I got my first real job over ten years ago. Every single year, all 7 of them, $25 each. Never got a thank you note but kept giving out of a feeling of obligation.
My older half siblings (their parents) didn't give V and E anything for Christmas. So I'm done buying their kids gifts.
@PumpkinandthePeanut I am so with you on that. I've spent so much money on my brother's kids over the years, not just birthdays and Christmas, and he has never said thank you. He called to ask if there was anything M needed for Christmas this year. I said no, and whatever he wanted to give her would be appreciated. He got her nothing.

Me too! My niece and nephew are so ungrateful as well. We saw them for the first time in 3 months on Christmas and as we walk through the door the first thing they said to us was "where are my presents!"

Um definitely no flaming from me. I wouldn't give them anything either. I didn't know you were supposed to send thank you cards for Christmas gifts. Is that typical etiquette? How did I miss that growing up?! I always just told the person thank you in person.
I'm kind of glad my stepmother has a stomach bug. We were suposed to drive to my dad's house to exchange presents (4 hour round trip) tomorrow, but I'm not going to risk it. E JUST got over being sick with RSV.

You should've said "they're at the Manners and Tact store, so I guess you'll never find them".
I've been known to finish off whatever purées M doesn't finish in one sitting.
yes, me too! And half eaten baby mums mums and even some whole fruit he was mouthing. I think I have finally gotten over the whole saliva and coodies fear I have had my whole life.

Whhhatt? That's sucky. I was slightly hurt that DH'S siblings didn't buy L anything for Christmas since she is the only baby in the family and they all act so excited to be aunts and uncles. It really could have been a 3 dollar book - it would have been just the thought.
@1and1is3 - if you thank them in person, that's fine. My issue is that sometimes we don't see them all at Christmas (like my oldest niece's parents are divorced so she usually spends the holidays with her mom) or like this year, we didn't travel so I just sent their gifts with my mom to give them. So in these cases, I'd expect a thank you note or some sort of acknowledgement. I'm even FB friends with the older ones and....nothing. How hard is it to post a thank you message on my wall?
Oh, the most awesome thing happened last year, when my 13 year old niece sent me a FB message (which she never does, we're not close) telling me what to get her for christmas. I wrote her a check but really really wanted to give her nothing.
I told DH I was starting my whole eating healthy thing yesterday. We went to my in laws house and I grabbed the bag of homemade brownies and ate them all in the restroom. :-< I have a problem lol. Then as I was going back into the living room my mil thought I had poop on my hand from Madison.

For Christmas presents/in person presents I'm ok with a Thank you in person. For most other things I'm ok with a phone call or email thank you--I just want to know that a shipped gift arrived. I do write (and expect) Thank You notes for wedding and shower gifts.
I definitely sent TY for wedding and shower gifts. I just couldn't get my sh!t together for the random onesie.
Speaking of eating LO's purées; I had a whole batch of sweet potato purée in the blender in the fridge waiting to go into ice cube trays. I hadn't eaten any vegetables that day and needed a side to go with our dinner, so I scooped out most of it and DH and I are it for dinner. ">
@pumpkinandthepeanut O.M.G.... I was one of those kids that had no tact growing up (like really I didn't know it was rude to ask someone to support you so you could go to camp) but even so, I learned by the time I was 13 that you don't tell people what to buy you. You take what you get and be grateful you got anything! It's another thing if you had asked what she wanted but to just say "Buy me this"... I probably would have explained to her why that was rude
DH has been in a pissy mood for like two weeks now. He's just really lazy, condescending and basically all around rude. R loves when Daddy gets home and DH has been rubbing it in my face. Yesterday R had his second flu shot and was miserable. I had been dealing with him crying all day and finally got him calm right before DH got home. He came in and picked him up and R lost it. Full meltdown. DH just looked at me and I walked away and said "good luck with that".
I have a coworker who told me she had bedbugs a couple of months ago, and her DH was too cheap to pay for an exterminator.....so they just "handled it themselves". She asked me earlier this week if my teenage daughter could babysit for them (which she's done several times in the past). I told her my daughter really didn't want to babysit anymore since starting her job at Dunkin Donuts, but the real reason was because I didn't want my DD going into a house that may still have bedbugs. I didn't even ask my DD if she wanted to babysit.

@Blueyed228's gif on yesterdays UO inspired this confession.
I think if you are going to comment on lack of excitement/the board being boring, you should make a personal effort at making it more interesting.
FTR, I know a few of our moms actively do. I'm referring to those who just expect the rest of us to entertain them.
Are you calling me out?
I think you are usually right in there contributing when something interesting is going on.
I meant it as a general statement and not as a call out to any one poster. This has been a recurring theme for months now. I'll say this to anyone else wondering, if the shoe fits....

My DH is constantly telling me I spend too much time on my phone (which is true).
When E falls asleep on me I am on my phone pretty much the entire time bumping or Facebooking. When I hear H coming down the hall I quick put my phone away and stare lovingly at DD. So, I'm faking an adoring stare at my child.
That probably makes me MOTY.
ETA: I just spilled cold coffee on DD's face....whoops. She didn't wake up though!

I agree. I think we should have a show yourself day where all the lurkers come out of lurkdom and show themselves. That would be entertaining! Right? I'm grasping at straws, here...
I don't think we have that many lurkers...I just think that with the holidays and all, people haven't been posting a much as before. Or sometimes just life takes over and people don't have the time to post.
But if a thread doesn't entertain you or peak your interest, move on...especially if you haven't contributed to it. Yes, the thread got totally OT, but whatever. I think that's what Blue was getting at....and I'm not putting words in her mouth..so I may be wrong. ;;)

@KateRN08 I should've been clearer in my original FFFC. I just took my P&R hat off recently so I'm new to this kind of stuff. Boredom complaints have been pretty numerous for months. I just finally got brave enough to actually post the confession that I've been harboring for a while.
In other words what I'm trying to say is if someone is not doing anything to spice the board up, it's really not fair to complain that it's lackluster.

No flames here. My cousin's kids are spoiled little asshats. Even before the whole wanting their own family Christmas dinner without my kids around crap, I stopped buying them gifts because not only do they not say thank you, one of them complained that they already had this/didn't like that, and the other said, "Next!" and tossed the gift aside. No more gifts for the brats!!!
The other day Logan was playing in his room and I was sitting with him. I left for just a minute to start the washer. When I came back I saw that he rolled off his play mat a couple of feet. He had his back to me, but he was doing something intently. I had a bad feeling, and sure enough I go over to him and he was gnawing on the dog's chew toy.
In my defense, the damn dog has developed a habit of dropping his toys by the baby because he knows I'll move them (usually throw them) to get them away from DS.

Well hopefully my FFC spiced things up. I think I got excited to see 2 pages of thread on UO because I thought it was about a juicy topic. Generally when UO threads have lots of replies it is an interesting topic. If the thread title said "weather". I would have totally skipped it.
I don't know if it spiced things up as much as it did confuse me. You can't hide this type of thing unless you use condoms?

Our dogs must be friends. This is what Elwood does all damn day! Although he thinks his tiny human will throw it for him
Edit: in the mess that is my family room, Elwood's toy is that beige penis looking one in the middle.
My FFC ... DH has been faking it during blowies. Does he think I don't know? We both have no drive.
Ok... What?!?
I can not get my mind wrapped around this post... one that he is faking it... and two WHY the hell are you making the effort for that task if you know he is faking it and neither of you have a sex drive....
I can barely get in the mood and find the time for regular sex, let alone blow jobs!

Whateves! I have taken the dogs antler out of the babies mouth no fewer than 10 times in the last two weeks.
The dog keeps bringing it to him and MJ happily accepts!
