Re: UO Torsdag

  • i hate going to the beach.

the sand gets everywhere, the sun burns my vampire skin, the sunscreen feels nasty all over my body, and i am constantly paranoid that my fearless 3 year old will drown or be kidnapped or run away.  i end up having no fun and coming home sticky and exhausted with a car full of sand and 2 loads of laundry to do.

    not.  worth.  it.
    Blasphemy!

    all of this.
I third this, but replace "vampire skin" with "I'm already brown, thanks."

The baby on board things has been discussed on here a few times but it's for first responders. Supposedly. But I think it makes no sense since no one removes it when the baby isn't in the car.
Sorry, I must have missed those threads. Still seems dumb and tacky to me.

I find it hard to believe that people can be truly unemployed for 6+ months that turns into years of not obtaining any kind of job, all the while collecting unemployment. I do believe that people can be out of their field for lengthy periods because they have a hard time getting a job related to their degree or skill/field. But I think its laziness and lack of desire to work at all when people literally have NO job for years and cry that unemployment isn't enough. My DH and I saw this woman on the news who is hoping her unemployment gets extended past the two years or so she's be on it because she will have no way to support her family if she's cut off. Really?? In two years she could've worked her way up at McDonald's, Walgreens, lowes or almost anywhere and be supporting her family, and use her unemployment as a supplement and not sole source of income. Give me a break!

Why am I not surprised that it was you who posted something like this? I'll make sure to tell my husband when he gets home (from his job) who spent about 7 months unemployed each time I moved him across country for my job that he was just really lazy.
I believe she said 2+ years.. Not 7 months.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm also pretty sure, by reading, that she starts out the first sentence talking about people who are unemployed for 6+ months, but thanks for your help.

You just want to pick fights, she already told you she wasn't even talking about your situation. Also, if you could comprehend basic English she is speaking about when 6+ months TURNS INTO YEARS. Not 6+ months by itself aka not your husband.

Thank you! I never said people can't be unemployed or that EVERYONE on aid is lazy or anything like that. It's what 6+ months can lead to when some people start to get lazy. Not everyone gets lazy. Some people get motivated more than ever so they aren't on aid. Aid should be a stepping stone not a landing pad. That's my UO.

I hate those wall decals/stickers. I've rarely seen them done well - to me they don't look any better than the "pictures" my 2 year old makes w/ stickers.
Like this?  I like it because I got to "decorate a nursery" but when it comes time to make DS's room a "big boy" room I don't really have to change much decoration -- just peel it off. Everything else is very simple so can transition to whatever we want. I think it looks good.  Shrug.

Note for judgers-- lots of toys in the crib - DS wasn't sleeping in there yet.
@poru - where did you get yours? We're getting one and I want some options. I have found a few good ones on Etsy...

OK I thought of an UO I hate how we can't post about our businesses. I have a great business that would be enticing for a lot of us horny pregnant women but can't do anything about it.

I also love to support all small etsy businesses we have some really talented people in A14 and I feel like a lot of us are actually friends now and not just internet strangers and I want to be able to share everything
Feel free to PM me about your business, my hormones are out of control lately :)

@Rogue237 We got it from this etsy seller: https://www.etsy.com/shop/wallartdesign?ref=l2-shopheader-name

It was very good quality.  But DH was also VERY careful about it putting it on.  Very easy to make it wrinkled and look bad.  If I had been the one to put it up, it might not look as good :)  We have textured walls too and it still turned out OK.  And its been on for over 2 years now without any peeling.

ETA: One of the reasons I like decals too, is that I could have decoration around the crib without worrying that frames would fall down during an earthquake or something.
    @poru - thanks, doll!

I'm soooo late to the game, but had to say: you obviously don't live in California.

This!! @snmetz7 PM me w/your business. I'd like to see what you've got. A close friend of mine does Passion parties, but I've been to those before and their products are OK...I'd like to know what else is out there.

ETA I happento have an Etsy business myself, and also know other very talented A14ers that have shops too. It'd be great if we could all just throw TOS to the wind and post about it.

  • So obviously social media PDA is gag worthy. But it bums me out when married folks have a complete and total vacuum on their social media of their spouse. You can show the world a million pictures of your food, your pets, your kid(s), hobbies, outdoor views, and selfies... But no evidence whatsoever that your spouse is in your life? Not a shared meal, not a wedding ring, not a "look at this cool thing we did together", or anything? I see that as just as hollow as the constant sappy significant other posts, and a bummer instead of annoying. Maybe you're a cute couple and I'd rather see you smiling together somewhere instead of how cute you are all by your lonesome.

I hardly ever mention my H on FB and it means absolutely nothing about our relationship. There are pictures of him from time to time but I'm not always posting a check in when we go on a date or what have you. And I've been married for almost 10 years - it would be freaking weird to post a picture of my rings.

ETA: I'm not posting selfies, either.

I meant more like, I can't even spot a ring on your hand, etc. There's a difference between having your hubs in a photo here and there and having your FB or Instagram completely void of any trace of your relationship.
  • Ok I guess I have a lot of UO:

I'm theming my nursery and getting forest bed set and a tree decal and painting it green and all that. Because I love it.

SO and I are not even friends on Facebook and we have maybe four pictures where we are both together. He doesn't like taking pictures, he doesn't like Facebook. I know a lot of my friends (not close friends obviously) didnt even know I was seeing someone when I announced I was pregnant, and a lot of them haven't met him. We've been together a year and a half. I know it's weird, but it doesn't mean we don't care about each other, our lives were just very separate for a long time.

I also love being pregnant, despite the fact that it feels like this baby is going to crack my rib cage open any second now. It's completely worth it everytime she kicks. I understand it can be miserable for some people and I definitely know why some people don't enjoy it, but as someone who never thought she was going to have children, I'm just amazed and what my body is doing and really really enjoy it.

@snmetz7: PM me! You shoulda slipped a business card in my secret Santa! Haha I also do personal sales type thing so I love supporting other people who do it!
