I totally wanted to start a thread like this but was worried about getting flamed since these numbers don't really matter! I am glad someone else did because even if it means nothing, it is interesting to see where everyone is at!
Last week I was 3cm 50% effaced. This Tuesday I was "very soft and baby was very low". Still 3cm but now 80% effaced. I keep trying to walk and move around but I'm feeling discouraged. I know baby has another week before he's due but I am sooo ready to be done! (As many of us are feeling!)
The great news is that I was only at 2cm when I started my 32 hour labor with DD. Being at 3cm makes me feel more confident in a shorter labor!
Had my weekly appointment this morning, and my cervix is still soft but not dilated. But baby's head is right there (OB said he had his hand on his head while doing the check). My BP was higher than normal at my appointment today, which was surprising, so they did some blood work just to make sure everything is OK. I typically run about 120/60 and my reading today was 144/84. I found it a bit weird that they didn't have me lie down and retake it before having me give blood, but I guess they just want to be cautious. The doctor isn't really concerned, mostly because I haven't gained any weight at my last two appointments, but just wants to make sure everything is OK.
Sorry for the AW portion of this post!
On Monday my nurse practitioner said the same thing about feeling the baby's head, which sort of weirded me out. My cervix is closed, but about 50% effaced as of Monday. I haven't had any contractions so I'm thinking it'll be basically the same news next week. My OB will let me go up to two weeks past my due date.
I have an appointment today! I'm 36w5d with a broken tailbone that is trying really hard to heal in time for the big event! Fingers crossed it does or OB is pushing for a section which I am trying to avoid. Basically I'm prob the only one on here that actually wants baby to stay in as long as possible to allow for healing time. (I say that loosely though. Everything else about me other than the tb says GET THIS BABY OUT!) I've been home bound ever since I fell at 32 weeks. Geeze its been a long month in these walls!
So we find out today her estimated size and also how she is positioned. Can't wait to see my girl again!! And get out of the house for a bit even if its only to see the OB. Oh and I haven't had my cervix checked yet so today may be may be a fun first on that one.
You poor thing!!! OUCH! And I definitely want to make it to my 39w induction. I'm not even ready for this baby to come (even though the pain and reflux SUCKS!) But I feel much worse for you!!
At my 37 w 3 days appt baby was sitting at a -3 and my cervix was nice and soft and 1 cm dilated. I'm a week ahead of where I was with DD. My next appt is next friday so I guess we'll find out how much is going on then! Last night I had some pretty good contractions for about half hour and then they quit so I'm hoping a little something happened! My Dr. tells me I hav a super relaxed pelvis already so hes hoping labour and delivery will be relatively easy. He said the same thing with DD and she was....so hopefully he is right again!
Crazy! I think we should all do a pool and make bets how dilated you @mrsjenni will be before "active" labor starts.
I'm trying to get to 7cm. That would be awesome. LOL!
Fucking fantastic. I love it.
Then, of course, I would flip my shit if I actually went into labor on my own. YIKES. DH better brush up on his delivery skillz. I'm sure by #4 he's a pro!
I got checked Tuesday at 37 weeks and 2 days and was closed up tight with a firm cervix. So I am expecting this one to make it to her due date unlike her brother who I had already had by now.

@mrsjenni - I love the thread title!! And I am sending you 7cm vibes, that would really be incredible if you made it that far!
@cara1024 - that sounds really painful, I hope that baby stays in and you can do some healing!
I had an appointment on Tuesday (36w3d). OB did my GBS test (which I should find out the results of at my appointment next week) and a cervical check. Things are still locked up tight, but that is as much as I know. Since my EDD is at the end of the month, it was still too early to talk induction so I'm not sure how long she will let me go. Since I've been on mat leave (just started this week), my BH contractions seemed to have reduced - until today! Holy cow, I'm having a ton of them and I'm really not exerting myself. Although I've been having them for months now and my cervix is still locked up tight so they aren't really doing anything other than making me uncomfortable.

Actually, @cara1024 -- now that things have hit a somewhat stable plateau for me, I'm in the same camp to keep the baby in as long as possible to try to avoid a c-section. Again, we're not in exactly the same position. But I think that we are both in the same conflicted mindset -- dealing with chronic pain and knowing that labor could either make it better or much, much worse. I feel so, so bad for you and your tailbone, though. I couldn't help but shake my head at the suggestion for tylenol and ice in your post last week. I really do know that she meant well and was trying to help, but yeah..... no.
peanutmuse Thanks friend. Everything about this pregnancy has been challenging from day one, but I'm more determine now than ever to make it to as close to 40 weeks and have a vaginal delivery. I truly feel that it is the best route for me, and honestly the OB is going to be hard pressed to change my mind. (excluding some new issue coming up, which is always possible) My tailbone pain is getting better slowly as long as I baby it and don't really sit directly on it. I lean on my side until that starts to really aggravate my back and then I have to lay down. My main pain issue now is low back pain because I've kind of been holding myself swayback in order to not put pressure on the TB, if that makes any sense. And now as she drops lower into my pelvis every day she is putting more pressure on it from the inside, which I believe is also an issue with you.
I'm so glad to hear that at least some of the pain/problems for you have begun to stable off and plateau. Doesn't mean it feels much better, but not worse is certainly a good thing. Glad the BP is better too. Hope things stay that way as long as possible and the pain is at least somewhat manageable.
I saw my MIL recently and she asked how I was doing, so I gave her a pretty vivid explanation of how bad things are right now. She looked me dead in the face with a big smile and said, "But other than that, you are doing OK?" My mouth just dropped open in front of the rest of the family and it was dead silent in the room. What kind of response is that??? UGH..she is a major sweep everything under the rug kind of person and I just can't deal with the fakeness right now. I said nothing to her but really wanted to say "Yes, other than being in my 9th month of pregnancy with a broken tailbone and already having a chronic pain condition, yes I'm doing just fine." People just DO NOT GET IT.

Had my first check today and I was nervous about it but it was nothing like what I was expecting. I am 1cm, 50% effaced and at -2 station. I know none of this means much but it is exciting to have progressed some. My ob wasn't expecting to see any progress because I haven't had any contractions at all or at least ones I have felt. Maybe I am having BH that I am just not feeling.
Love the thread title @mrsjenni! And seeing where everyone is all in one post. It's hard to keep up, these days!
At my last appt (38 weeks, 1 day) I was "2cm, soft but high." That's what I was for a few weeks before delivering last time so I didn't have any feelings one way or another about hearing that. I have another check tomorrow. I had been holding out on H for ST's for a few days because I have a crazy busy day at work today and didn't want him pulling any triggers down there but we did it last night because I just couldn't not anymore. I needed to make it to today for work but now that I hit 39 weeks, I'm on Baby Lo's schedule.
@Cara1024 & @peanutmuse Is it weird that I sometimes legit worry about you guys at random points during the day? I just can't imagine adding extra pain to labor so I just worry curiously how your labors will go. It's okay if that's creepy. Whenever your LO's do work on making their entrances, you'll be getting lots of far away well wishes from me!
@litzo27 I want in on the odds if a betting party gets put together. :P
39 weeks, barely a fingertip dilated and not effaced. I know it sounds kind of odd, but I am glad things haven't really started progressing yet. I am GBS+, had a fairly short labor with DD#1 and live about 45 minutes (depending on traffic) from hospital not including time to drop off DD#1 - we may just have my parents pick her up at the hospital. So when labor starts, I don't really mind if I am starting off only a cm or 2 dilated to give me a little more time to get to the hospital.

@AMK1981 I wasn't able to get it fixed, but had to also switch over to Chrome just for The Bump in order to be able to post. It sucks. Can't understand why TB can't fix whatever issue is causing the IE error. Wish I had a magic solution.

38 and 39 week appt. nothing has changed. I've been 1cm and 40 percent. I have my last apt tomorrow at about 40 weeks. Hopefully I progress a little. They will strip my membranes tomorrow if I'm dilated and more effaced. I will try anything to avoid getting induced. So we will see, just go with the flow I guess and be patient.
Just came back from my weekly check and I am 2.5 cm and 80% effaced. Dr said baby's head is super low, she could feel him "right there" haha and my hips just LOOOoooove him for that (I can barely walk today). She hasn't even mentioned induction or going past my due date which surprises me since I'm a FTM. But I'm really ready for this baby so I hope her "any day now" comment is legit!

My last appt was Tuesday and I was at 1cm and 80% effaced. I have been 1cm and 70% since week 37 appt. (I was due yesterday, 40w1d here). My OB had her baby last weekend so now she won't deliver me and I'm pretty bummed, hoping I get one of the docs I like (2 I like, 2 I don't).
Next appt is Monday - if still pregnant then they will do an ultrasound to check my fluid levels and an NST to check on baby and will schedule an induction for wed-fri of next week (this practice doesn't like you to go more than 1-2 days after 41 weeks).
Just got back from my appointment. I'm a "loose 1cm" at 39w4d. I don't feel like this girl is in any hurry, but not much happened with DD either until I was in labor.
39 weeks today and have an appt with the Dr at 12:30. We're going to talk induction. I want to know if they'll induce me and if so - when, mostly because the neck, shoulder, back and SI pain has gotten so bad it's unbearable and the longer I go, the worse I get. Also, I've noticed a bit less movement in the last day or two. Originally I chalked it up to my anterior placenta but now I'm just getting worried. He/she used to have quite a bit of movement in the evenings but has been very quiet yesterday and the day before.

Not creepy at all! I'll take all the well wishes I can get when the time comes! At the very least we should have interesting birth stories for everyone to read

My OB doesn't do any checks until you get to your EDD, so I have no idea what is going on down there other than he seems perfectly content to repeatedly bash me in the vag with his giant head all day and night. I have a feeling I'll go late, but we will see. If I don't deliver by my EDD (1/13) we will schedule an appt. for 1 week later to discuss induction. I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that and he shows up on his own.
I'm 39w1d, and at my appt at 38w6d, I was 1cm/70% effaced/-2 station, and she could feel his head (oof!) and was pleased with the progress. I'll be allowed to go 10 days past my due date. (Dear lord, still being pregnant in 2 1/2 weeks?!? Nooooo!)
I also tested positive for GBS, but she didn't say anything about rushing to the hospital, so I am thinking I'll call about that now. I'm 1 1/2 hours from the hospital and hoping to go med free, and had been planning to stay home as long as possible.
I am definitely feeling the pressure down there a lot more consistently, but don't think I've felt any real contractions. I find it incredibly nerve wracking, actually, having no idea when this whole thing is really going to start.
ETA: I talked to my midwife, and she said the timing of getting to the hospital should be the same, despite the positive GBS result: Immediate if my water breaks, or 5/1/1 if contractions.

Not weird at all. I was actually thinking about @mrsjenni's GTT last night and glad that she updated us today.
Saw my ob today. I am 1 cm super soft and thin. Baby's butt is well applied and low. If I go into labor I am getting a section. She doesn't think I will make it to 39 weeks for a scheduled section. I have yet to schedule one and still haven't. I asked about it today and she said the office would take care of everything. Hopefullywe can make it till Sunday at least when we will be "early term"

Thanks to my uncooperative cervix and funneling I have had for weeks (bed rest since 21w), the OB did a cervix check last Friday (35w5d) and it was 1.5cm dilated, 80% effaced and -1 position. Cervix is soft, facing forward and thinned out, OB could feel the head. He is guessing I'll go into labor in the next two weeks and might go fast with her small size. I won't hold my breath! I bled the rest of that day after that and fearing the check again tomorrow. I know I can ask not to have one but I am such a number person and like to know these things. I also have a growth scan and NST due to her SGA (small gestational age) which came out of nowhere 2 weeks ago (She was in the 57% percentile 5 weeks earlier and then dropped to the 19%). So hopefully she is still growing or we will talk immediate induction I really want to go into labor on my own and then get drugged up Other than her small size, which I would be induced in week 37, we haven't talked yet about how far past my due date I can go because none of us (myself, ob, or high-risk) ever though I would make it this far!

@MarBee1214- I think I bled off and on for 5-6 weeks with #3. Bleeding is worse when you nurse b/c the act of nursing contracts your ute back (I'm sure you know all this.) How is baby girl??
On Christmas Eve I had extreme pain on my right side...I couldn't breathe, move, talk, touch...anything. At around 9pm I broke down and called L&D and they told me to come in. They hooked up to the monitors, I had a few contractions, nothing major. LO was fine. They gave me pain meds but couldn't figure out why I was in so much pain. They did diagnose an UTI but that wouldn't cause the pain. Around 3am they told me they could give me more pain meds and keep me there or give me a prescription and send me home. The pain is not nearly as bad now but it is still there.
I had my 38 week appointment on Monday, I was 38w1d. I was dialated 1 full cm...nothing exciting. My doctor told me she wanted to see me in a week and we would talk about next steps if I am still in extreme pain. She left the room and I got dressed. Not as soon as I put on my pants I felt a gush. I investigated and it was tons and tons of blood. I was concerned and got a nurse, who went to talk to my doctor. They said it was "normal." I had planned to go to work but I had to go home and change clothes and decided to stay home. No other blood since then and baby has been active...
I don't know too much about mine bc my midwife doesn't do cervical checks... But we're braving the snow storm to go to our appt tonight for an NST and to run labs. I think they are going to offer to keep us and induce me since I'm over 39 weeks and things have been up and down with my health lately. If my midwife suggests induction I will comply but if she says either way is fine and we can choose ... I have no idea how to make that decision !!!!!
I am 39w1d and have been 4cm/80% effaced with baby at -1 station since Monday. I have hours of painful menstrual like cramps and sporadic contractions every day and had 24 hours of major bloody show (yuck I know). I broke down and went to L&D last night and got sent home because I was still at 4cm and my contractions aren't consistent enough. I was told I am most likely in early labor but my body is just taking its sweet time kicking into active labor. I can be induced on Sunday at 10am if I'm still pregnant, which at this point I have every suspicion I will be.
Haven't had any cervical checks recently. At my 32w U/S, they said my cervix was softening so I am not sure what's been going on since them. Baby boy has been head down for about 7 weeks now though and my midwife felt around and said he was definitely lower at my last appt on Monday.
I'm 37.4 weeks and no real signs that baby is coming anytime soon. It's fine, I didn't plan on her coming early at all. I am not even packed.
At my 36w appt, I had my GBS test (I'm negative this time), and OB said I was at 1cm. She will check me again on Monday at 38w. She also offered me the option to induce sometime during my 39th week.
Overall the vag has been feeling ok. I waddle when I stand up and for the first few steps after sitting for 30+ minutes. This morning during my workout I started to feel kinda weird, like some sharp pains so I stopped and waited for them to pass. I was real sluggish during my workout, but that's to be expected.
I'm not even sure what is going on with my vag anymore. I bleed for a day and then don't at all for a day and then bleed again. I'm just going to start referring to it as the hairy, scary monster. Seems accurate.

I'm only 36 weeks so no update. I have an appointment tomorrow but they don't do cervical checks until 38 weeks and won't talk about inductions until you are 41 weeks.

This was me when I recovered last time. I almost postponed my 6 week check up because I was worried I'd still be bleeding and I didn't want to be in there doing THAT! I found my body was super sensitive to how much activity I did so taking it WAY easy helped it go away for good. Not sure what I will do this time since there will be infant care to be providing! Guess we'll see...
36 weeks 1 day here, I'm a WHOPPING fingertip dilated, but found out today that this stubborn little girl is footling breech. No wonder I get so many kicks in the ass.... Waiting to hear back, but I think the C section will be scheduled for Jan. 21(39 weeks exactly)
Tomorrow's my due date, and as of Monday I was 1cm and thinning. I haven't had any contractions, or signs of labor. I did have borderline high blood pressure on Monday, so they ran some blood labs and I did the 24 hr urine catch. As of today, blood pressure was still high (130/90, I normally run 115/74), but they decided to let me go home since I have no other indications of anything being wrong. My regular ob is away, and I miss her terribly. Will be seeing her on Monday for a growth scan and check, but unless Ollie comes on his own or blood pressure gets worse, I'll be induced on the 12th.
Last week's appointment my OB didn't say anything about dilation or being effaced, just that baby is head down, my cervix is soft, and he hasn't dropped yet. I'm not sure how to tell if he;s finally dropped, but I am using the bathroom about 5 times more than last week so there's that. (I also am not sure baby is really head-down, it feels like I can feel his head up at the top of my stomach sometimes?)
I am 38 weeks and 3 days. Today the doc said I am 4 cm (up from 3 cm on Christmas Eve). They are going to strip my membranes on Monday because I am on Heparin, and I think they want to have some control as so when I go into labor so I can stop my last dose. If that doesn't work, I would imagine we will explore induction.
I cannot wait to meet my little man!! Although, I do want him to make as long as he needs to.
Had my second check today. Still 1 cm and 75% effaced but she's dropped a little lower, so she's now -2. I'm thinking she won't be here by early next week like last weeks doc told me. I think they'll let me get to 41 weeks and then induce. I never thought I would be okay with that but I'm at the end of my rope. My brain and body feel like they're shutting down so idk how much longer I can last! Everything hurts so bad and I'm beyond exhausted. Uuuuuuggh!
Re: Status of the Vag Check-in
Last week I was 3cm 50% effaced.

I said nothing to her but really wanted to say "Yes, other than being in my 9th month of pregnancy with a broken tailbone and already having a chronic pain condition, yes I'm doing just fine." People just DO NOT GET IT.
