I still make my 3 year old take off his winter coat in the car before I buckle him in, except for when we drive to preschool because it is approximately a 15 second drive down our street. I will have to switch G to the convertible seat before winter is out because nearly 20 lbs of baby plus the weight of the seat is killing my elbows. Also, she is very close to maxing out height-wise. I will miss the convenience and also don't know how I will manage carrying her and wrangling my toddler to the car (I miss having an attached garage SO much some days!).
I think I am going to go ahead and be "that house" that doesn't shovel the sidewalks today. It's too flipping cold and I am too damn sick to be out there with my stupid little shovel. Oh, and for that matter, why the fuck are snow blowers so damn expensive? A ridiculous racket, that.
Not cool about the shoveling. It sucks and all, but at least hire a neighborhood kid to do it- think of your postal worker or any other person who may need to walk by- they could end up injured. I at least make a shovel width of clear path at a minimum.

Recreational pot is legal in our state now. I haven't decided my opinion on it yet. Our neighbors are stoners and I find it biazzare that they are so open about it and their families partake when visiting them too.
Here too. I'm glad everything went smoothly yesterday and I'm glad it is taxed at 25%.
I don't live in that state, but I think I am fine with pot being legalized. The thing I'm not fine with is all the food and drinks that they are putting it in. Teaching your kids not to light up is one thing, but as a parent having to be worried about juices and candy bars being "enhanced" adds a whole new level to the 'say no to drugs' lesson that would really stress me out.

It's -9 windchill right now and I have a fever of 102. I have 2 sick kids who I am not dragging outside with me in this and I have shoveled my corner lot sidewalks and the walk up to our door every other time it has snowed this year. It will get done when my husband comes home tonight. If I knew any neighbors with kids who I could call, I would, but we are new here and I don't have connections like that yet. Guess I am just an asshole.
I didn't notice that you're sick. :-S I hope you feel better, and I would suggest going out and meeting some neighbors before the next snow then to help you out. And I don't think you're an asshole... I'm just coming from an area where people need those sidewalks (train commuters like my Hubs who walk to the train station).

We are having chicken with brussel sprouts tonight. My husband cooks them in a cast iron skillet with bacon. Maybe that cancels out the healthy factor, but they are delicious.
Brussel sprouts are delish! Another great recipe is tossed in EVOO, salt and peppered, roasted with apple and bacon, then lightly tossed in balsamic vinaigrette or red wine vinaigrette (whatever you have on-hand).

I've made this a couple of times and it is amazing! Even my anti Brussels sprouts husband loves it.
I'm only on page 2 but in regard to the hunting debate, I unfriended a chick from fb because she kept posting about her husbands hunting success- even saying excitedly that he got a "Bambi"... Sorry, I eat meat and I understand the whole hunting for food thing but I don't like that you are happy about shooting a baby deer.

(I've read that it totally depends on your palate and isn't subjective.)
Aw. Sucks that so many of y'all have broken palates. ((Hugs))
But you're crazy.
