Talking and words

I know that ds is only 16 months old, but I am a little concerned about the amount of words that he is saying. He was saying "please, yes, momma." He still says "dada/daddy, baby." We heard him say "thank you," once.

He understands what we are saying to him. He shakes his head "no" when he doesn't want something.

I honestly think that he is just taking everything in and that he will start saying so much all at once.

Advice? I read to him every night and we talk and sing to him all the time.

Is he vocalizing, but just not saying words? Like babbling?

"Normal" from what my pediatrician says is 3-6 words up to 18 months. So, he says 3 words

As long as he is talking in his own language I would not worry too much about actual English words. DD1 spoke her own language until she was about 18mo then starting picking up words like crazy.

Yes. He babbles likes crazy and then tries to say stuff sometimes.
