STM+ postpartum belts?

Backstory...after DS I was at the store checking out (I think he was 6weeks or so). my cashier told me she wore a belt/compression thing of some sort, and was back down to her starting size a few weeks pp.

I'm curious if any of you lovely mommas have had any experience?

Re: STM+ postpartum belts?

  • i didn't use one after my first pregnancy, but i had some serious abdominal separation.  it never fully went back together in the years between babies.  now, my abs are legitimately about 5-6 inches split, based on the way my guts spill out of them when i try to sit up unassisted from a fully prone position.  it's disgusting, really.  i showed a few friends of mine (one who is a nurse) and she was horrified.  she made some comment that i'd probably just need surgery to put my abs back in place, which kind of rattled me.  looks like i have fodder for my next OB appt in 2 weeks!

i will most definitely be looking into a support band this time around.  i hear they are also very good for c-section recovery.

I wore one on my hips called Shrinx. My hips did shrink back down but I can't say for sure if it was the belt or just luck.

  • I wore an abdominal binder after delivery because it was comfortable. It seemed to help with the abdominal separation but I don't know about shrinking it back in quickly.

  • I used one with my second delivery and I will definitely use one this time. It helped with support and shrinking down post delivery. I didn't walk right out of the hospital a size zero though. They are not that miraculous but they do help!

  • I've been doing a little reading on postpartum belly binding and I'm giving it a shot this time. There doesn't seem to be anything harmful so why not. If anything I'm sure the support for all the lose skin and weak ab muscles will feel nice.

  • I wore a belly support band but I'm not sure if it was a compression one. They gave it to me after my c-section and it helped me walk. If I wasn't wearing it, my stomach felt like it was going to rip open. I'm not sure if it helped prevent abdominal separation but I never had that. It took me a while to get back to pre-pregnancy size so I wouldn't bank on it do magical things to you.

  • I didn't use one and was back in a bathing suit at 3w pp, back in my regular jeans by the time I tried them on (July 2nd baby, so I didn't even touch them for a few months).

I would give it a try if I had any abdominal separation or a c-sec though.

  • I'm interested in trying one. Can those of you who have used one and/or reasearched them provide suggestions on which one to buy?

Thank you to the PP who has already linked to one option.

    Thanks!
  • I'm trying it this time. That feeling of squish alone is reason for me!
