I am so, so very sorry! I never had any issues with my own mil, so I never understood the extent of it. But my sister's mil-to-be lives in Canada and was staying with them for the holidays... for two weeks! She has been a nightmare! My sister owns a duplex. They live on one side and they've been working their butts off to renovate the other side in time for their visit. They explained that they finished the other side so that they could stay there while they visited. Mil completely ignored this, unpacked her things and blew up an air mattress in my nieces play room. She invited her granddaughterto stay with them for four days and planned a new years day party for her whole family all without asking my sister or her fiance. She lectured my sister in the "right" way to argue in a relationship, criticized all of their renovations, implied that my sister is s terrible cook, and is totally hijacking their wedding plans. Its awful. My poor sister escaped to my house for a couple of hours today just to get away.

So... to all with monster in laws, I have extreme empathy for you! You all deserve awards, and a big bottle of wine! God bless you for your patience!

    Mil told her they plan to stay with them the week before and after the wedding in September. I told my sister that there was no way in hell that that was happening, if it meant I had to make the hotel arrangements myself!

    Poor girl! Tell her to stand her ground now!! And no way let crazy cakes stay with her around the wedding. That would be too much to take.

    That sounds like hell. Where do these people come from??? I hope if they ever visit and stay again that she stands her ground more and speaks up about her thoughts and feelings. So sad, she's like a prisoner in her own home!

    Thank you! My MIL exhausts me. She makes negative comments about my DH, which sets me over the edge. She keeps trying to apologize, but I don't trust her.

    What is wrong with these women? Why wouldn't they want their sons to be happy and have happy marriages?

    Shit like this really fries my ass. I hope my boys give me a swift kick in the butt if I ever get so selfish that I act like a rude bitch to their partners.
