Who will be in the delivery room with you?

I think it'll just be my H and I this time, as my mom will probably be watching the girls. My mom and H have been in with me for both girls and my grandmother and BFF were there with me with DD2.

Who will be with you?

Also, moms with older children, are you allowing your older child in the room?

DH. MIL will be there because DH is easily overwhelmed and I'm seriously concerned that he will panic. MIL is a nurse and she'll be able to advise us on any medical issues that come up to avoid unnecessary interventions/keep DH's anxiety under check. Once I hit the pushing stage, it will just be DH and I.

3rd time of just DH and me. MIL will watch my other two. My first time being induced I had my family wait at the hospital but learned better for my second one!

My stepson (6) asked if he could be present. No.

My mom asked if she could be present. No.

My sister asked if I wanted her to be present. No.

My mother-in-law asked if she could be present. No.

My father-in-law said he would be in the waiting room. Great.

They're all welcome to be there first thing post-recovery, but I need space to do my thing.

H and my sister were both there for Asher. I'm thinking the same this time, unless I have a section, then only H will be allowed per hospital rules.

With DS I had DH, mom, and sister. I will probably do that again. My sister is a nurse so I love having her in there looking out for me. I might offer to let MIL in the room this time(not sure she would accept though), but we are very close and her only daughter probably won't be having biological children.

MH and maybe my mom. Depends on whether I try for a VBAC or not. If I do I will consider letting her observe. She can be a lot to take but I know it would mean a LOT to her.

Kids under twelve aren't allowed on our L&D unit, so my husband will be in the waiting area with our son until my in-laws can come from out of state to pick him up (ninety-minute drive). Then he'll join me in the room. I'm thinking a doula may come in handy.

DH.

The way my family does things is "Hey, let us know when you're in labor, and then let us know when you're done." They'll come up and visit, but only after DH and I have had time to bond with LO and I'm ready for them to be there.

If DH's family has a problem with that, they can blow me. My kid, my ute, my experience. I'm very seriously contemplating not even telling them when I'm in labor and just calling and saying "Hey! We have a baby!" because I know for a fact MIL will 100% insist on being in the waiting room and popping in and out while I'm in labor, and I will NOT be having any of that.

ETA: I've told him he needs to inform his family of those things, but he seems to think it won't be an issue. Of course, his mom is a sneaky bish and and likes to put ME on the spot instead of talking to him.

P.S. There is a reason (one of many) that we (and by we I mean me) decided to NOT have the baby at the same hospital SIL works at. Not taking any chances.

During labor my mom and mother in law will be allowed, depending on how I feel. Once I start pushing, just my husband. Last time my mom got to the hospital only in time to say hi and give me a hug before I kicked her to the waiting room for the 3.5 hours of pushing.

DH & doula. Depending on if we've moved or not my photographer will be there. If it's at home, DD may or may not be there, that depends on the time of day & how she's doing. At the home birth there will be a MW & 1 or 2 assistants so our doula or one of the assistants can be with DD. Mom thinks she will be there this time since it's at home... Uhm no

Oh, and I'm going to be more strict about when we have visitors too. Last time, both sets of parents and siblings were basically in my recovery room before I was. This time, my excuse for not letting anyone in is that I want DD to be the first one in to meet her sister. So everyone else can wait. If that means waiting all day, then sucks to be them.

My then 11yr old, if I go into labor on a weekend when she's not at her dad's, can be in the room for some of the labor. But once it gets intense, she'll go with my Mom and Dad until after the baby is born. Only DH will be in the room with me for it all, and the only exception to the rest of the time is DD being there- absolutely no one else in the room for any of it.

The first time I had dh my mom my sister and my MIL it was special I would never not have my mom there she's a lot of help and I gave MIL the opportunity to witness her first grand baby being born because she only has two sons and will probably never get that chance assuming my BIL sticks with not having babies

With our second I had a home water birth and allowed my dh my mom my grandma and my aunt plus 2 midwives it was also very special I allowed my grandma because she was interested in the whole water birth and my aunt because she had a son only 5 months earlier and she had the same birth plan as me but ended up with complications and had to go to the hospital to have him

With this one I'm not 100% sure I know obviously my dh and mom but that may be it this time I plan on doing it at home again so I can have whom ever I want but we will see

We're thinking of doing a home birth, so if we do it will be MH, the MW, and maybe a doula or 2, depending on who I use. We will be living with my sister when the baby comes so she will be there, but I'm going to ask her to not be in the room while all that is going on, and if she can keep it a secret not call my mom or family until we're ready to see visitors. My SIL did a home birth and I actually stopped at their house to drop something off for my brother and he didn't even tell me she was in labor, and they didn't tell anyone until the next morning after the baby was born, she'd had a chance to feed him, sleep, and shower, and then they texted everyone to let them know and to me that seems like it would be awesome to be able to do it that way.

I'm in the same boat as typeset. Family lives 2.5 hours away, so husband will have to watch DD, and I will hang out until family gets in. Once everyone is settled, DH and my sis can come in.

DH and my mom. I had them both when DD was born. Even through the beginning of my pregnancy, I was adamant that it would just be DH, even though I knew my mom really wanted to be there. As it got closer to the end, I reconsidered. It was nice to have her there, and then she took pics right when DD was born and DH cutting the cord. I love having those pictures. But she was great and left right after so that we had time together as a family.

I feel bad about not letting my MIL in too, we have a great relationship, she is awesome. But I just don't feel comfortable. Last time both of our families were in the room during labor, which was fine, my labor wasn't bad.

So that's the plan, assuming my dad or one of my sisters can watch DD, otherwise it will just be DH because my mom will have DD.

Compared to many of you we will be having a party! First son: mom, sister, hubby. Second: mil, hubby, sister. Next: mil, sil, mom if she makes it, maybe sister, hubby, my oldest son REALLY wants to be present but that will be a decision made in the moment. This is all in addition to my 2 MWs and the student assisting them. This will be my second home birth.
