If you BF...then finished

We weaned completely about ten days ago...and as of yesterday I have a hardish spot sort of behind my nipple that is a little sore. I'm wondering (and hoping) that maybe it's just part of the drying up process, it's only on one side.

Does anyone have insight?

I'm freaking out a bit that it could be something much worse, and naturally this happens when I'm visiting family and not home to see my Dr. although I have an appt on the 10th anyways.

I hope so...but I sort of thought that I would have had one more like 3 days after weaning rather than 10...if that makes sense. But this being LO #1 I don't know how drying up works and if it takes almost two weeks to fully be dry.

I weaned 5 months ago and I still leak. I have no idea if that's normal or not but it was much longer than 2 weeks for me. I would bet that it's a clogged duct.

I bet it probably is then, it's on the side that I got semi-clogged ducts when we were nursing so it makes sense

Some people can dry up in a few days, for some it takes months. I'm sure it's a clogged duct.

It's going away. It's just barely sore if I poke it. Must have been a clogged duct, still going to bring it up at the Dr. on the 10th just to be safe!

I think the consencious is probably a clogged. But just curious how you weaned? Was your LO still pretty active BFing a few times a day and you stopped cold turkey? Or was your LO down to 1 BF a day and maybe somedays not at all? That could probably affect how clogged it is? If that makes sence?

It went away after two days so I think it was just a clogged duct, that just wasn't the first thing I thought of since it showed up about ten days after there were no more nursing sessions.

We were down to two a day, morning and before bed. Sometimes I'd skip the morning, depending on what time she woke up and if I wanted her to go back to sleep. One night we were out past bed time, and she fell asleep in the car on the way home, we put her in bed (fully thinking she would wake back up) but she didn't and slept all night without the need of nursing. SO, I decided that was our gateway night to stop, she didn't really miss the morning nursing since it was somewhat sporadic, but for a few nights she was pretty pissed that I was just putting her in bed without our snuggles and nursing. But after about 3 days she realized it was over and got over it so to speak.

I tried/try to snuggle her just as often though, so she still feels close to me and that I'm there for her if she needs a small break from whatever she's doing.
