favorite maternity clothes?

If you've bought maternity clothes before, do you have favorite pieces? I love my Old Navy maternity leggings and have brought them out already even though I'm otherwise wearing my normal clothes. I just love them and find them really comfy. I also love my Gap Body maternity camis and will probably dig them out soon since they're extra long and will hide it well if I decide to unbutton my pants. Nothing else was particularly memorable, though I do remember the dress pants I had (Motherhood brand, but bought at Goodwill) felt like pajama bottoms.

  • Old Navy makes a cotton fold over skirt (not the maxi ones) that I loved last time. So comfortable for hot weather. I also really likes Gap maternity tees and tanks.

  • I had a pair of yoga pants from motherhood maternity that I wore a hole through the thighs (no leg gap here ladies). I am totally going back and buying another pair. They were amazing to put on after wearing those panelled pants all day long at work.

Second Old Navy's foldover skirt. I lived in three of those last pregnancy, but two were borrowed.

I love the Secret Fit Belly pants from Motherhood (or Pea in the Pod if I catch an awesome sale). I know not a lot of moms like full panel, at least among my IRL friends, but they work best on me.

Gap is great for work clothes.

For petite moms (I'm 5'0"), H&M seems to make the smallest fitting XS. Old Navy's XS usually doesn't even come close to being short enough for me.
I'm a huge fan of the full belly panel from motherhood too, I just dug out some jeans from storage today and they feel heavenly compared to my regular jeans!

  • Ingrid and Isabel... Also, if and when you're looking for nursing pajamas I have to recommend Majamas. There a Chicago based boutique brand with reasonable prices and the material is so soft, comfortable, and provides coverage and support for our two best friends! Lol
  • I really liked my work pants from Kohls (Oh Baby! line) last time.

I was just looking at the old navy website & these are on sale right now! :)

  • I found that I'm really hating bras already, and I'm only approaching 6w. My favorite shirts are the tank tips with the built in shelf bras. I've been wearing these under my regular shirts now for work. They're so comfortable and I don't have wire digging into my bloated unhappy body. Macy's carries Motherhood ones that also double for nursing as you can pop each side down. The XL size may not last through my entire pregnancy, but hubby sure likes them for now.

As my jeans are all getting tight, and I'm looking into pants next.

  • I just left New York & Co. and they are having a huge sale! they have these "pull on pants" that have a waist band like a pair of leggings but they look work professional still. I bought three pairs and a pair of legging jeans. Thrilled to have some stretchy pants that deal with the bloat and they will definitely last me for a couple of months at least. Lots of wiggle room. Only $20 a pair with their sale!

  • I second the Old Navy leggings and skirts; I also have a few cute mat dresses from there. I like Target maternity shirts and dresses, but not so much their pants. Motherhood is fine but can be made cheaply and runs large, thus the PJ pants feel if you buy your actual size. I like their bras and underwear though (I know, seems ridiculous to buy maternity underwear, but they are sooo comfy.) Sounds like I need to check out Gap this time too.

  • I like Targets dresses. Their pants didn't even come close to fitting right. I love the pants at Motherhood Maternity but they're pricey. Kohls online had some really cute tops and I liked their jeans.

I have these gauchos in brown and black and during my last pregnancy wore them every single day they were clean. The band is super soft and they're amazing postpartum (even with a c/s). I'm short and they're an odd length on me (I'm 5'0) but I don't give a flying F, they're the greatest lounge pants ever created. They have pockets and aren't tight at all. Maxi dresses don't work for me because I get hot in them and my thighs sweat, rub, and stick together..yuck. These are heaven sent.

ETA: Sorry, I thought I was posting this in June 2014. Don't mind me. I'll leave this here since it's valuable to everyone.

  • I absolutely love all my bottoms from Motherhood. Jeans, shorts, dress pants, and capris.

As far as tops go, I have a couple that I ordered from ASOS that are really cute. I also bought a dress from there that I am excited to wear for a wedding.

  • For professional wear I'm really enjoying Boden wrap dresses worn with a maternity blazer. I've felt pulled together at work for the first time since the bloat began.
  • After reading a ton of reviews I broke down and bought a Blanqi maternity support tank. With DD I didn't need one but this little boy sits SO low and it's already causing problems. It came in yesterday and I'm pretty sure I'm going to wear it every single day! They are expensive, but definitely worth it this time around!

I also like the under belly maternity pants that have the button cincher like toddler pants do. I have them at the tightest fit right now but I will have plenty of room to let them out as baby grows. The one I have on today are Esprit Maternity and I got them on Zulily.

  • Gap tees are my favorite. Everything else so far has been a major disappointment.

I have on these pants today.  They are amazing!  I can't believe I'm still getting into a medium easily.  I love them.  They are very professional and comfy!!
  • I just got a nice shipment of Old Navy Maxi dresses and skirts and as of right now, they're working tremendously! I've gotten maternity jeans and work pants, full and demi panels, but I still just end up uncomfortable. Wearing my maxi today, and I feel amazing!

  • Right now I'm loving my Boden jersey dresses for work. They're not maternity but have enough room for my belly without stretching the fabric at all. I wouldn't want to stretch them out once I'm larger but they work great for right now. I'm loving having something that is more fitted/put together but that's also super comfortable.
  • I have the Secret Fit jeans and dress pants from Motherhood and find them to be really comfortable...the full panel defintiely works best for me. But dresses are the most comfortable to me. I have a few from Asos, a couple Maternal America and I just bought three from Motherhood that are really cute and a good deal (to me) at $35-40/each. Great for work.

  • I'm wearing the gap maternity dress pants I got at a consignment shop for $25.  They're awesome and way more comfortable than the hair tie (& falling zipper I was always pulling up).

I'm still wearing my normal sweaters since I didn't buy any maternity ones and they look fine as long as my shirt is long enough.   I just got bigger yesterday and now I'm worried that I'm going to stretch them out. I don't have a lot of other options and it's warmed up to a balmy 25 degrees today. Any advice on if I should put them away?

  • I'm 5'0 too! Loft makes some nice petite maternity clothes too
  • I recently ordered 2 pairs of maternity shorts (5" inseam - call me old fashioned but I think someone's shorts should be longer then their vagina), a pair of maternity Bermuda shorts, and a pair of low panel maternity jeans from Old Navy. SO comfy! It was like Christmas morning! My regular jeans and belly band are officially put away for the rest of my pregnancy.

I just got my order the other day and am loving the dresses too! H even likes the maxis on me and he normally really doesn't like those on non-pregnant women, but he gave me a nice compliment when I was wearing them. I can't wait until it's warm enough here to wear them!!
Not sure how H will feel about it!  He hasn't seen me in it yet, but it's so much more flattering on me!  Plus I'm much more comfortable in it.  I'm so short (5'0") and putting weight on faster than I ever have---sorry, I don't wanna be showing these stubby legs off this summer!  These dresses/skirts are a great reason not to!  They're so light too!

I've been loving Gap's knit tops. They are so soft and comfortable. I have a pair of work pants that I also really like. They fit well and stay up. As a bonus, the ankle length required no hemming for those of us with short inseams.

I very much dislike the work pants I got at Motherhood. They fit my legs and butt great but only when the crotch doesn't fall halfway to my knees...
  • I am loving my Motherhood jeans & lightweight sweaters.  I have tried on a few things at Target with no luck (but our Target has a TINY selection).  I also went to Old Navy & tried on basically their entire maternity department & walked out empty handed.  Sizing wasn't consistent from one item to the next & I seemed to be be between two sizes, which is how their regular clothes fit me too.

I'm hoping Kohl's has a better selection when I go in this weekend (got a 20% off coupon).  The last time I went there I didn't even find anything to try on.

  • Target for some shirts and sport pants.(I have to fix them they are way to long for me, I'm petite) Old Navy jeans that I found on clearance size 1, leggings, motherhood some jeans I had to send them to the tailor.
  • I've been sporting the target sports bra uni-boob look for 2-3 months now! Also loving (not to mention living in) the skirts I got at Old Navy. Even in this record high rain fall of a March WA state just had.

  • My favorite pants are Jessica Simpson skinny leg jeans. I'm between a petite length and regular and these are the only ones that really fit in all directions.

I'm also loving some tanks I got at Old Navy. They are long and gathered on the sides. Also came out to about $10 each?

I bought 3 maxi dresses at Ross for our upcoming trip to Vegas. Can't wait to give them a spin in some warmer weather!

  • I have two pairs of Pea in the Pod leggings that I totally LIVE in and want to get more! Pairing them with long stretchy tops that cover my butt. I have never been able to understand the whole thing of wearing leggings with a top that doesn't cover the butt. I feel too exposed that way! Then I throw some Toms on and that's basically been my every day pregnancy look. I also got a ton of maxi dresses (mostly Motherhood Maternity and Jessica Simpson Maternity) that I love!

  • I have loved all of my bottoms from Motherhood Maternity! But I have a question...the maternity pants I am wearing now at almost 18 weeks...how long will they get me? I am a FTM, and I dont know if I should hold off on buying more pants. Any advice would help!

Has anyone picked up any maternity shorts yet? I've tried a few on (there are only a few in stores here so far, since we won't actually have warm enough weather to where them for a couple more months), but none of them have worked. If anyone has any brands they recommend, please fire away!

Also, in general - does anyone wear a larger size in shorts and a smaller size in pants? I always have to go this route and I'm finding it to be true with maternity wear as well..I have no idea why this is!!
I got 2 pair of regular (5" inseam) shorts and 1 pair of Bermuda Jean shorts from Old Navy. I've only worn them to try them on (we're still cold here in OR), but they were SO comfortable. We're going to Hawaii tomorrow and I'm SO excited to wear them.

Also love the Jessica Simpson jeans - I'm 5'4 & as PP mentions, great for those who fit best in between petite and regular lengths. Surfing old navy now - they have an extra 30% online until Sunday - I'm sure I'll end up with a full cart by then =)

I tried on a few pairs and they were horrible! Always too short or too long. I got a pair of used maternity jeans that are pretty much bell bottom floods. I'm too embarrassed to wear them as they are so I'm thinking of turning them into some cutoffs at the length I want. We'll see how it goes!
