~Working ladies check in~

Just wondering whose still punching the clock around here?
How are you feeling? I don't know about you ladies but I could definitely use some support about it. Had my mental breakdown yesterday tht the baby still wasn't here and I had to work this week. For me it's just feeling so tired at the end of the day and getting to spend no time with DH because I pretty much collapse when I get home.
This week however is the first week where I technically have no patients on my schedule and just show up and take the load off other peeps.

  • I'm still working (39w4d)

I have a desk job though so it's really not terrible. The thing I struggle with is not sleeping at night and being super tired and falling asleep at my desk.

It's going to be a rough day today because the guy my boss is having work when I'm out is going to be here for his 3rd day of training. She really waited until the 11th hour to hire someone and it's exhausting having to train someone and be on my A game all day.

Luckily Wednesday is a holiday, and I think that's the only thing getting me through the week. I'm going to cry if baby doesn't come over the weekend and I have to go in next week too!

  • Still working and still treating patients. The last two weeks have been super tough at work walking around the building multiple times searching for and treating patients. Add on top of that training someone how to do my job (also the rehab manager) and it's exhausting. By the end of the 9-10 hour work day I barely have any energy to drive the hour that it takes to get home. DH has been awesome about keeping the house running and cooking dinner. I basically get home, eat, fall asleep sitting on the sofa, then my husband wakes me up to go get in bed. Wake up and do it all over again. Then on Saturday I can't hardly do anything bc I'm so run down from the week. Sunday I usually feel better and am ready to start the new week! Hopefully Friday will be my last day of work and I'll go on pto until baby gets here.

  • I'm still here working. Mine too is pretty much a desk job. I have been working extra hours since DS is on winter break and with my mom or DH. But I'm exhausted every morning when I go in. With DS my job was so exhaustingly stressful I took vaca the week before he was due. I try to take it one day at a time. My boss is letting me work from home tomorrow because I have no one to watch DS and I have a drs appointment. So that will be helpful and less stressful. I'm hoping now that we are pretty much done closing end of year at my office the next two weeks will be a breeze.

  • I'm holding on til Friday. I'm here supervising a repair at the factory. The  majority of the employees and mgm't are on holiday since we shutdown for Christmas. I'll take my two weeks holiday and if baby doesn't show up by then I'll just go on leave. I am not waddling up and down this plant any longer than I have to.

  • Still working but cut down to approx 49-51 hours per week (was working 60-65). I need a new job lol.

  • I'm still working but only 36w. It's definitely getting extremely difficult because I am in sales and up meeting with clients a lot, touring our property, and going up and down a lot of stairs. I am constantly out of breath and very swollen by the end of the day. I also commute 90 minutes in each direction which doesn't help. I don't know how I am going to keep this up for another month...ugh.

  • Still working as usual.  Its mostly a desk job but pretty mentally draining.  Insomnia is getting worse too which makes work harder than before.  If I don't write things down compulsively I forget a lot of things.  Still working with my supervisor about my coverage plans because she has really let things get down to the wire.  My attitude at this point is F- it because I wont be here to have to deal with it and she has had more than enough time to figure it out.

  • Still working (39w4d) and I'm just so tired from not sleeping at night. I want to work until I can't work anymore...I really need the $ plus I'd probably die or boredom sitting around waiting for something to happen if I had taken any time off. But it's not easy especially this late in my pregnancy.

  • Still working at 38 weeks and I will until I hit 41 weeks or go into labor. I don't have a desk job but with Christmas and New Years things have slowed down a little. I'm off today (but working New Years Eve and Day) so I'm putting DS1 in daycare and doing nothing. So excited to just sit on my butt.
  • You can do it, ladies! I'm hoping that still being at work is giving you more time to spend at home once LO is here.

I'm not at work today because I'm a teacher and we're still on Holiday Break, but if I haven't had the baby by Thursday I'll be headed back for 2 in-service days (meetings and such). I'm hoping to not have to go back for any student days (starting on the 6th) as that would make me almost a week overdue.

I totally understand the drop dead tired feeling. Try to get your feet up if you can - we are in the home stretch!

  • I'm at 39w 3d and still working. I'm primarily working from home now. I've always been very passionate about my career but right now I honestly don't give a sh**. I'm uncomfortable and so anxious, and all those work "problems" seem so small and petty to me. I'm trying to hang in to the end, but I really thought baby would be here by now.

Sorry for the rant. Now I need a cookie.
  • I'm at 38w 4d and am still working. Because the rest of my team has been on vacation this past week and a half, I've been working from home and will only be going in on Thursday and Friday to train the temp, then will take a week's vacation and hopefully will have the baby some time that week. I had planned on working until I went ino labor, but am really glad my boss insisted on me giving a firm end date. I don't know how I'd be doing if I hadn't done that.
  • Still working over here. 36w1d. Really not sure how I'm going to make it to the end of January. My pregnancy with DS was a breeze compared to this.

Also, my co-workers are all driving me crazy. They're therapists who work designated schedules, so this one in particular is supposed to be working today from 9:00 - 7:00 PM. Her last client is a 5 PM. I guess she's in a hurry to get out of here today because she just sent me a text, "My 5 PM might want to move up to an earlier time spot today. You should check with them." I called the client and they aren't interested in moving up. 5 PM is the earliest they can get here. So, I look like an asshole. Thanks. If you don't want to be here at 5 PM, then don't agree to work a shift that puts you here at 5 PM.

This is exactly my situation. I'll be 39 weeks the week of January 6. I really hope he's here before then because I don't want to go back with kids. I have my sub plans and classroom completely ready and I don't want to be use the plans I worked hard to get ready for the sub!! :) the two PD days wouldn't be horrible... But I'd still rather just stay in my sweat pants and not have to deal with the people and comments! I'm sure it'd be a lot of "whoa you are still pregnant?!?" Etc!

Hang in there. Regardless, most of us will be holding our babies soon!!!
  • I'm still working.  I am 37 weeks and although tired, feel pretty good.  Another girl in the office who was due on Jan 2nd had her baby last night, so I am next!  Eeek!

  • Glad to see this thread!  I'm still working (38w4d) and plan to until baby comes.  My job is primarily desk work so I can occasionally work from home, which is a nice option, but after being in the house all week last week, I am going stir-crazy!

I'm about to head to my weekly OB appt then head into the office.  My job is crazy and stressful most of the year but the weeks of Christmas and New Years it is usually pretty quiet.  If I make it to next Monday, it will be interesting to see how that goes because everyone will be back from the holidays.

I am only getting like 4-5 hours of sleep a night right now because I have horrible insomnia so I've been trying to take naps during the day, which obviously is out when I am at the office!  I am trying really hard not to "check out" but at the same time, starting big projects is kind of pointless!

  • Thought I would keep working until my water broke, but made the decision to start my leave now (38 weeks). Even though I have a desk job, between preggo brain and lack of sleep I just wasn't able to concentrate. And then coming home and being so exhausted...

I already feel a lot better mentally. Today is my first Monday not going in... And I have zero guilt.

  • I'm 38w 4d and still working. I feel fine and since traffic is light this week I've been letting myself sleep in an extra 30 min since before Christmas. I definitely have a lot I'd like to get done before I'm out so I would like to make it until at least Thursday (39 weeks) and then I don't care when she comes. I'm sore after days where I'm carrying more files around but that's just to be expected, I suppose.

My boss is on vacation until Jan 6. He thinks we won't see each other again until March...if he's right that's okay with meeeeee! :P

  • I'm still working at 36W2D. I'm busy and on my feet for my entire shift so I've cut down to only 6 hour shifts max. Also starting next week ill be cut down to only 20 hours per week until she decides to arrive!
  • I'm on Christmas break now but will e at work for one more week until I'm induced at almost 39 weeks. I had planned to work as long as possible to make my leave stretch out. I work at a desk job, so no real strain/stress.

  • I'm on vacay and going back on Jan 2, but am still working at 35w 3d. I have a desk job and a boss who is flexible with me working from home. Unless I have a doctor's appt I pretty much go into work, but my SO & I decided that after the New Year he'll be driving me in just in case something happens and he can swing by and pick me up (hoping this is will not be the case!). My job can be mentally exhausting and I still have to work on my contingency plan for when I'm out on leave and get it approved by my boss. He wants to get a temp, but seriously, we're at the new year and that process takes forever! I'm not even stressing about it because it's not my problem!

  • Still working here - although my last week of work! YEAH!! I'm 37 weeks and having a lot of trouble sleeping. My doc wrote me out of work early; she told me she'd rather me rest up vs work.  The lack  plus of sleep is affecting my work quality so I'm happy about being done.  I am very lucky and have a boss that is super family focused.

  • 36/2 still here! I work in hospitality and usually ppl feel like crap complaining to the preggo, but that doesn't help me when they are on the phone. My coworker is out of the country and won't be back til 4 days before I'm due. Trying to stay as long as possible for that reason. But also secretly hoping this baby is an early bird.

I'm a teacher on winter break right now too. We go back to work in Thursday. My kindergarten class is every other day, but starting the week of the 6th I go full time...which is funny because I'm due the 9th! I'll be back at work until this baby comes. To be honest it's almost easier working I've been bored at home, working makes the time go by fast, lately I feel like I'm just sitting around waiting!

  • My last day scheduled is this Friday 03JAN.  I really hope I don't make it until then though!

Like some other have said, its a desk job, so it's not so much the "work" that's the issue as much as it is the exhaustion.  Sleep has not been going well, especially with this laryngitis/cold I have developed over the holidays.  Combine that with moving, unpacking and a toddler and I have zero time to nap when I'm not at work.

What is getting on my nerves is all my coworkers comments about me still showing up and questions about when baby is going to come.  I walk to my desk and put on my headphones because I don't want to talk to anyone!

  • 37w3d. I just want to cry every morning because i have to go in. I love being a librarian, but right now i hate my job because by the end of the day i am so exhausted and in so much pain that i am crying. Then home to a toddler and a husband who cant cook... i just want to be home!
  • Yup, still working as well.  38w 2d.  I'll work right up til delivery like I did with Julia.  I have been caught up with my work for about 2 weeks now, so I literally come in and take care of the things that fall on my desk as soon as they come in and then I'm caught back up again.  It's been a boring couple of weeks and it will continue to be boring until baby gets here.  If I didn't crave the time with baby after delivery, I'd start my mat leave now.  But I'd much rather have time with baby than time off of work before hand.

  • I'm still working! Only 36+1 though. It's an office/desk job, so no issues.
I'm the head of my group, so I've delegated most of the high-stress/project related stuff to my team, and I'm just dealing with operational day-to-day stuff. My last day of work is technically Jan 24th (due the 26th) but I'll be working from home starting Jan 13th... Looking forward to that!

  • I am still working.

I have a desk job, so it isn't too uncomfortable (although the keyboard gets farther away each week). However, my husband doesn't want me driving farther than town anymore (5 miles) so I either work from home or he drives me in. It's really frustrating.

I would take vacation time, but I'm trying to save it up to add a week to my maternity leave. I can't afford unpaid leave.

I think I only have this week to work, though. Wednesday is a holiday, and Friday will be a short day due to a dr's appt, at which time we'll see what the next step is.

  • I'm still working although I'm only 35 w 5 d.  With my last pregnancy I worked up until the very last second.  I actually went in for the morning, left for my appt and left my stuff at work expecting to come back.  That was a mistake as I was immediately (urgently) induced.  Call it FTM naivete but I was overdue and just assumed that if I was to be induced I would have time to go back to get my stuff.

I will again work until the very last second but this time I am scheduled to be induced at 37-38 weeks so I really feel like I'm looking at the light at the end of the tunnel.  I don't feel nearly as "done" with pregnancy this time as I did at this point with DS1.
  • I am still working as well, but am only 35 weeks 4 days so I still have several weeks. With my DS I worked up until he was born I went to work on Wed all day then Thurs I had a dr. appt, planned on going in after. Felt weird and ended up getting sent for a NST, then to L&D and then I had a baby all on Thurs. He was 9 days early, so we will see whether or not this LO decides to come early or keep cooking. I plan on working until she makes her debut:)
  • I'm 36w 3d and currently on Christmas Break. I teach all day kindergarten so although I love the distraction, I'm not looking forward to the commute and to feeling so tired! We are interviewing potential long term subs Friday (we go back Thursday) and then my sub will hopefully be coming in to observe for a few days so I don't have to write extensive plans for her and so she will get to know my classroom dynamic. The first few days of break felt boring and like a lot of sitting around, but now I'm not complaining because it has been WONDERFUL to sleep in a little since I'm up all the time going to the bathroom! Hang in there ladies, especially those of you who are due any day now!

  • I'm still working 36w5d, I work from home which makes it way easier, no coworkers to deal with face to face, I don't have to get ready in the morning or commute, and I work stock market hours so I start at 6am but I'm done at 1pm and can relax, do errands in the afternoon, so I will keep working until baby comes. For the ladies who work in an office, hopefully your coworkers are cutting you some slack and being extra accommodating!

Still working at 39 wks, 3 days. It's a desk job and I don't have a lot to do but I'm going to miss the people (I am going to a new job after maternity leave) so I'm going in. It's very bittersweet!

Plus, H is sick and I have nothing else better to do.

  • I'm still working 37/3, plan is to work until the end. I work from a desk some but mostly in and out of people's homes (and up and down off their floors...). I just finished a week off as we shut down for the holiday. I'm the only one in my position here who didn't take today and tomorrow off as well... Saving all that time for after baby! They have yet to have a plan for a sub for me. It may be my boss taking over... I can't imagine what that will look like... The families I work in home with are even beginning to worry!

Lol! Small world! We've had my sub set up for a while (former teacher, retired a few years ago) and she'll be doing another LTS about 3 weeks after she finishes mine. Part of me wants to go back and get things started after break, and the other part of me just what's to have the baby now so the students can start fresh after break with the sub. I'll probably go in today or tomorrow to get things ready for Thursday and next week!
