Jack's diaper rash update

Sorry for the late update, I know many of you were wondering. Jack and I both got seen at urgent care. Him for his rash and me for anemia.

For Jack we are to try calmoseptine frosting style in his bum. They also suggested more oatmeal baths and diaper free time. Since we are out a washer at this time until tomorrow and my recv'ing blankets are in short supply I have been checking, changing and reapplying ointment every hour. I was also told to stay away from nursetts and formula with a high iron content.

So with the nurse telling me to avoid nursetts and formula with high iron. Will this affect Jack if I'm taking iron supplements for my anemia and BF'ing? Boob guru @amyg* do you have any answers to this? I asked the pharmacist and she was super wishy washy and couldn't give me a straight answer! Wtf...

I'm just going to complain to about the nurse hotline in my area and the nurse that told me to try CIO. It was way too difficult to listen to him cry like he did even though it was only a few minutes and I had exhausted all options for trying to figure out the issue. I'm sorry I made so many of you upset.

    Yeah CIO is not fun. I only do it maybe for 5 mins and its after I know LO has had any and all needs met and I just need to pee and brush my teeth. Glad you have a plan and I'm not sure about the iron. I know I take it and no one said anything to me but that doesn't mean it won't be in the breast milk.

    @kelseyketchum it was so hard. We had just got done feeding and I was talking to the nurse about what to do. He didn't empty my right boob so I had to go pump. He sleeps well on my chest but I'm so scared I'll fall asleep and something will happen. I scared the crap out if myself reading the SIDS pamphlet the hospital gave us.

    Can you get that cream OTC?? My LO seems to have a similar diaper rash.

    @ansleyturner yes! I went to walmart and asked the pharmacy. I have applied it every hour since we got home and the rash is almost gone. Jack also doesn't cry when I change his pants anymore.

    @ansleyturner I'm glad to know iron transfers. The pharmacist kept saying it wasn't going to hurt him. I must have asked the question 3 times before I just gave up. Jack has had some really hard stools I was using the Enfamil NB nursetts. They have a higher iron content.

    @amyg* thank you! This is the answer I was looking for. I actually met with the public health LC today and we were able to discuss something's too in regards to BF'ing.
