A friend of mine asked if I wouldn't mind helping her with the prep of her sisters upcoming shower. I know both very well. My friend is having it at her home with a max of 30 people. She asked if it would be tacky to do finger foods, salads, chips/dip/veggies, maybe a wedge, and of course dessert. I myself didn't see it to be a big deal but I guess after speaking to others about it she feels differently.
She doesn't have a huge budget to spend and her sister wouldn't care either way.
My question is, is this tacky? If not any suggestions on what you may or may not serve?
I guess I'm at a lose myself...must be baby brain.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Honestly, when I think shower I think finger food too- there are a LOT of fancy-looking dips and such that don't cost a ton. Check Pinterest.

All are welcome in my posts
If these guests think finger foods are tacky, she could host it in the early afternoon as a tea or after dinner as a dessert party? That's what we did for our housewarming. People won't eat as much and you can go to town with fancy desserts for a similar budget.
My friend planning our shower is making it a pot-luck party to keep her expenses down. All of my friends and family on the invitation list thought that was a great idea, and they're all happy to contribute.
