We went yesterday to Babies R Us and started a registry. I found it very difficult walking through the store doing it. So I'm on my lap top with a check list trying to improve it.
Crib mobile really necassary or just a nice add on?
Diaper stacker? Was it useful or just a waste of space?
Do you need both a changing table and dresser? I plan on hanging most clothes and than putting 2 of the tall rubber maid drawer containers in the closet to house things that can't be hung. The room isn't big.
I'll probably have more but these are things I'm working on now.
Also should I put duplicate items on two registries? Or should I decide which I like better the one at BRU or Target an just keep it at one place?
Re: Ok I have some registry questions...
Diaper stacker- not necessary.
We use a dresser for the changing table. I have a diaper caddy thing that holds wipes, bulb syringe and other accessories and it works fine. I put the rest of the diapers in the top drawer next to the burp clothes.
You can duplicate because people will go to one store and not then other. If you get duplicates you can return them.
We didn't have a diaper stacker. I put diapers in a dresser drawer.
I have a diaper stacker but never used it. Didn't know where to hang it from.
We have a change table that is also a dresser because my room is not big enough for both. And I put the diapers and wipes in the too drawer. Now that my 14 month old is a squirmy wormy I change him on the floor, but I still love the change table we have and it's been very useful this far.
And I think it's not a bad idea to be registered for duplicate items at different places. As long as you don't mind having to return some items.

Mobile for the crib? I agree it shouldn't be necessary. No one I know has ever used them very long. My sister always changed my nephews diapers in the crib and the mobile came in handy then to distract him, but otherwise not used.
Diaper stacked? I am planning on using mostly cloth diapers (at least I have newborn sizes to start) and those will be kept in one of the change table drawers. As for disposable diapers, our nursery is also small so I plan on just keeping the boxes of diapers on the floor in the closet.
Change table/Dresser? Ideally I would have preferred to go with just a dresser and use that for changing baby. However, like I said the nursery is small and wall space is very limited (crib to one wall, closet on another, and due to the cut of the room the rest is pretty much big windows) so I searched for a dresser that would fit on a small wall and could not find one that was a decent height to use as a changer. Therefore, I went with a change table that fit perfect in the space and still provided me with 2 big drawers and open shelves as well. So changung supplies on the open shelves, cloth diapers in one drawer and undershirts/onsies etc in bottom drawer. The rest of the clothes will be hung up in the closet. So really...it really just depends on your space!
Duplicate items? I wouldn't. Pick your favourite and save yourself having to return a duplicate later.

What are sheet savers? Are they really a must have or more of a good to have?
Not sure exactly what a sheet saver is...but I'm going to guess it's like a maytress protector? That you need!
As with others, no on diaper stacker, like the dresser with changing on top instead of separate changing table, and definitely separates for bedding.
Maybe don't register for mobile at first, and then add it later if you feel you want more items for people to select from with shower gifts, or buy it if you decide you want one and get most everything else and have gift cards to use to purchase it.
Diaper stacker: we never had one. I didn't see the point in it.
Crib set: we have a beautiful Wendy Belissimo set and it's to die for! Definitely not necessary, but it was a hand me down and super cute.
Sheet saver: Yes, yes and yes. When our dd was sick we'd do a sheet sandwich - pad, sheet, another pad followed by another sheet. Then we just had to take the top layer off and could easily put her back to bed in the middle of the night. we don't have that setup all the time, but when she has bad diarrhea or an illness it's super handy. On the same note, we always had pnp sheets on our pnp for the same reason. You can't really wash the pad.
Diaper stacker? Was it useful or just a waste of space? Waste of space.
Do you need both a changing table and dresser? I plan on hanging most clothes and than putting 2 of the tall rubber maid drawer containers in the closet to house things that can't be hung. The room isn't big. If you can safely use the dresser as a changing table maybe consider that. I hung most of my son's clothes anyway and used the dresser to store pants and clothes that were too big.
I'll probably have more but these are things I'm working on now.
Also should I put duplicate items on two registries? Or should I decide which I like better the one at BRU or Target an just keep it at one place? Only put duplicate items down if you want more than one of them and/or are willing to go return the stuff if you get them both.
Mobile - I had one, rarely used it.
Diaper Stacker - I had one, used it all the time, I liked having the diapers close by and not having an ugly diaper box just hanging around.
Changing table - We have one similar to this, in a different color, and it was awesome because of the extra drawer space. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3814501&cp=2255957.2273443.2255986.2256272&parentPage=family we then hung this on the side of it and it was perfect for us. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2401354&gcsct=0ChMIiJm-1pzYuwIVJJZECh3aUQAAEAA it was enough to fit a few diapers, lotion, nail clippers, vaseline, q-tips, etc. Then we also have a tall dresser that we used. I added shelves to DS' closet and we used a lot of canvas bins to store stuff as well.
Also, do not duplicate items on registries, you may end up with two and then have to drag stuff around returning/exchanging which is annoying, and even more annoying if someone forgot to have the store scan it off the registry and didn't give a gift receipt ;(
We're getting a mobile, knowing full well that we may or may not use it. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
Our bedding set comes with a diaper stacker, which we may or may not use. It'll probably be just as easy to use the top drawer of the dresser, which we're using instead of a separate changing table.
If you're okay with potentially returning doubles, go ahead and put duplicates on separate registries. Personally, I am not.
Skip the mobile, but DO get a crib entertainer with music and lights. This helped our son sleep when he was 6-10 months, and then after that when he would wake up in the morning he would push the button himself and enjoy the music while he was waking up. It also bought us a few more minutes before we had to go in and pick him up.
I don't know what a diaper stacker is.
I like the extra storage of a changing table and dresser, but, again, I feel like I have an UO with that one.
I think bedding sets are silly for babies and just purchased flat sheets, since that's all you need.
I wouldn't duplicate on registries...I got enough duplicates not doing so since people don't know how to use a registry, haha, and I would rather not add in even more returns than necessary.
Most useless item we bought, not getting another for his baby.
Diaper stacker? Was it useful or just a waste of space?
Had one didn't use it. We have a topper for our changing table that held diapers, wipes and other such necessities.
Do you need both a changing table and dresser?
I liked having both but it's not necessary. You can easily put the changing pad on top of the dresser.
Also should I put duplicate items on two registries? Or should I decide which I like better the one at BRU or Target an just keep it at one place?
I did, everything is returnable/exchangeable and you get the registry coupons from everywhere you register.
I would say do baskets instead pf stacker
I did my registry in MyRegustry.com bc you can pull from anywhere. I have items from etsy target amazon bru anywhere! It's very easy to use as well.
Def piecing my own bedding set together. Just skirt and sheets that match.
