Pregnant at night is hard

So between yet another slight touch of acid reflux or heartburn or whatever, the perpetual stuffy runny nose, she-baby and her super-fly flutters, and DH snoring (he doesn't usually but isn't feeling well), imma gettin' me no sleep tonight.

Re: Pregnant at night is hard

  • So I've got the quiet dark bedroom, the soothing wave white noise, a purring cat sleeping against my toes keeping them warm but my lizard brain is freaked out and certain that the moment I close my eyes something horrible will happen to me and the baby.

Thanks pregnancy hormones. What I really needed was an extra dose of irrational anxiety tonight. I may never sleep again :(

I hate it when DH snores. He sleeps so soundly though that I can usually kick him a little and he rolls over and stops for a while without waking up or remembering. We have a cat that snores quietly, and purrs quietly, but when he has a good dream he starts purring while snoring and its so much louder. Like a little snorting buzz saw.

  • Been up for 3.5 hours with no logical reason why. Yay, hormones.
  • Up for work but kept waking up through the night because of this pain in my right rib area and the sweats, it was awesome!

  • Yep I've been up since 5. Its 6:30 now and today was my one day to sleep in. My sugar dropped so I had peanuts, that didn't work. Now eating pb in my robe in my recliner.
  • I wake up every couple hours and just sit there awake no matter how tired I am. I end up reading half the time. And it's 7 am and I'm up for good despite the fact that it should be a day to sleep in!

Ugh, I feel like I never sleep. Between my over active brain worrying about things, my husband snoring, my back hurting and everything else, I'm up all night.

I'm so tired, but I close my eyes and brain is just like "WEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

And our dog wakes up everyday at 6:45, whether or not I have work. Thanks Penny. You're a champ.

ETA: And peeing. Every time the snoring wakes me up, I figure I might as well get up to pee.

  • All of this is why I want to punch people when they say "better get your sleep now..." Honey that shipped sailed on August 16th. Thanks.

Oh my god, I HATE it when people say that crap. I must be in a mood today because here I am at 9:15am all enraged at the thought of someone saying that to me.

  • Since getting pregnant I've been up multiple times in the night. I can't get comfortable and my mind races!
Dh works out of town so normally when he visits its only for one night at a time. But over Christmas he had a whole week off...I didn't think sleeping could be worse..but ugh yes! Sharing a bed sucks during pregnancy.
  • I can actually fall asleep pretty easily, but then I wake up in the middle of the night because... well, my bladder doesn't have the space it used to.  Then I get back into bed and just can't stop thinking.  Between work stuff and baby stuff etc. etc. etc. there's just too much on my mind these days, and I can never get back to sleep!

  • I woke up four or five times last night drenched in sweat from these ridiculous night sweats and I have a tickle in my throat and cant stop coughing. I love pregnancy bitch fests! At least I can poop still!
  • I used to have a bladder of steel and used to be able to sleep through a bomb going off in my room but now I'm up at least twice to pee and wake up a bunch of other times because I'm uncomfortable.  and then it takes me an hour to get back to sleep.  DH says it's a way to prep for the sleepless nights with the baby but I wish I could get a few more months of decent sleep!

  • Lately my stomach feels so heavy at night I have a hard time moving from side to back to side or getting up to pee. And the lower back pain is freaking awful lately. :( hate night time

  • I find that some nights i go to bed and just end up lying there more awake than when i was just sat watching tv. Then DH starts snoring, then baby starts her tap dancing practice (usually on my bladder), then i start worrying that i'll never get to sleep. I find it worse when I go to bed early. Even if i'm tired, if I get an "early night" i just end up lying awake.

My back has been killing me at night as well! Just an awful aching feeling. That no position seems to help. Ugh!

Yup! I'm a back sleeper and that seems to help a bit. Laying on my side is hell! That's when I feel the full weight of my belly too...

I haven't had much in the way of back pain yet. It's the acid reflux that makes me change position. If I'm on my back, I need to be a bit elevated. Otherwise I wind up having to sleep on my left side, when I'm used to rolling to my right side. I wake up a lot having to flip over.

My SIL gave me a Boppy Cuddle Pillow for Christmas. It's not like the huge body pillows, and not the nursing horseshoe shaped one - it's shaped more like a comma, LOL! It's meant to curve under/around my belly to help support it; or can go between my legs to help keep my hips in line. She used one when she was pg and loved it. I'm hoping this will help when my belly starts to interfere with sleep.

  • For those that need help with the weight of their bellies...I have a Boppy wedge from my last pregnancy and it's amazing! I think there are other brandsof wedges too...they help a lot!

  • Where can I find these boppy wedges you speak of?! I hate my pregnancy pillow it takes up way too much space

  • I wake up every time I need to switch positions. I'm uncomfortable. I'm starting to think my couch is comfier than my bed. When I pass out there, I don't move or wake up for hours! I haven't pooped in 2 days. I hope today is the day!

@jjh471 I got mine at babies r us...I'm sure they still have them even though mine is a few years old.

I love mine...really helped support the bump when laying on my side...especially when the bump is huge.

This is the Boppy I linked to in my post, SIL gave to me for Christmas, it's not a wedge but it's designed for belly and hip support.

  • Night time is very difficult. My back is fine until I get into bed. And we have a decent mattress. I only have this problem when pregnant. I remember with my first I slept with 8 pillows. Last pregnancy, 6. So far I'm at 4. I know I should have invested in a preggo pillow, but they're just so darn huge I wouldn't know where to store it! Haha. This is our last baby too. If I got it with my first it would have been worth it. :)

My hubby's been off all week and he is such a sweetheart, and got up every morning with DS1 at 7, and let me sleep in. That 1-2 hour sleep in is the best sleep I get. Sad that he's back to work tomorrow. :(
