I'm 14 and pregnant. I have no idea what car seats work best or are at least safer. I need help.. What do you think are the best or ones you've tried that work?
You do realize your full name is on the ultrasound? Not smart. But then you're 14 and pregnant and don't know how to google search car seat options so I guess we already knew you weren't the brightest crayon in the box.

If you are worried about cost there are programs to help get car seats.
Any new car seat for sale has passed a safety test. For most people it comes down to how you are going to use the seat. For example: Some people get seats with a second car seat base so that one person can take baby to daycare and somebody else can pick up the baby.
If you don't want to google go to your library and check out books on baby stuff. Make sure the books are recently printed because what is considered safe changes over time. For example: drop side cribs are not considered safe now.
I hate the car seat we bought for our first daughter. We don't have a car and only borrow my in-laws' about once a month, so we just picked a seat that was cheap but not the cheapest. Turns out it's hard to take in and out of the car ( when FIL takes it out for his golf gear he always reinstalls it wrong), we can't adjust the straps while she's actually in it, and it doesn't have a chest buckle so she slips her arms out every. single. time.
I live in a Japan so no recommendations but I will definitely be checking these points before we buy another seat for baby #2.
Any new seat sold today is safe. Just don't buy a used one because you don't know whether or not it has been in an accident or properly handled.
Find a professional who can check to make sure it is installed correctly, some fire or police stations will do this.
I own and like the Chicco Keyfit if you are looking for specific recommendations. Depending on what type you get you will need to get another one when your baby gets too heavy or tall.
Not to seem like a white knight but (of course assuming this is real) plenty of 14 year olds get pregnant. I honestly can't believe how shocked so many people are by this. And I'm also saddened by the sarcastic remarks. Granted, if my niece (who is that age) was pregnant it'd take a while for me to process it as I put diapers on her and she's always gonna be a baby in my eyes but I don't understand the huge shock in a pregnant 14 year old these days.
On the actual topic of discussion, maybe ask an adult in your life you know and trust who has had a baby. And like other posters have said, the police and fire depts. can help with installing them. If you've ever baby sat for anyone and think they'd know ask them. Someone mentioned Lucie's list. That's a great website to subscribe to and there is a LOT of helpful stuff on there. Good luck!
OP...what kind of car seat are you looking for? There are so many options, but pretty much any one you buy new these days has been safety tested and should be just fine. The Graco Snug Ride and the Chicco Key fit are the most popular and reasonably priced infant sized ones around these days. Good luck!
You have received some good advice but I'll reiterate what has been said. All car seats that you can buy in a store have passed the same safety tests. They are all safe enough to have your baby in them. Anything beyond safety is just personal preference.
Go check out a Babies R Us and you can see them in person. Graco seems to be pretty popular but I preferred the Chicco. I also know people who love the Baby Trend for their handle. Baby Trend has a travel system with a jogging stroller for a good price. I would check that out if you are looking to save money. Babies R Us has 20% off coupons you can use to purchase that. Best of luck.
Oh and definitely do not buy a used car seat, you won't know if it's been in a crash, which is very unsafe for your baby.
Ask the person who's going to be driving you around to help. If you're 14 then you won't be driving yourself anywhere- there will always be an adult to help you for the first few years.

Is this OP even real? I did a google search and got a FB for a person that seems to have a newborn. I don't know...

Beats me. I found someone on Facebook that could potentially be 14 but there wasn't much to go on, on her page.
OP if you are real, I second talking with the person who will be doing the majority of the driving and have them help you pick out a good car seat.

Tragically, I do not think this is MUD as if you look up the real name on the ultrasound (which OP, you should totally remove) it brings you to a Facebook profile of a young girl with braces.
You can buy used for just about everything EXCEPT the car seat. Never buy used for a car seat. It also depends if you want one that you can carry the baby around in, (in which case you will have to buy a bigger one later) or one that will grow with the baby. I got one that will grow with the baby since that will be cheaper in the long run, and I find the carriers to be cumbersome anyway.
But, most of all, please reach out to adults for help--parents, school counselor? Minister? Other family members? Having a baby is hard-- and I'm 32. You may also want to consider options like adoption, if you haven't already. I hope you get the help you need.
I would just walk into a store and start asking questions. I also like what someone else said, talk to the person that will be driving you around and get them to take you.
Ps. Do people actually make fake accounts just to cause shit on these boards?! Seems kind of a waste of time to me....

ALL THE TIME. It's sad. There was one recently that was posting a fake birth story on here that she copy and pasted from a woman's blog about a preemie baby. With the same account she was on the multiples boards claiming she was having triplets. I don't understand it either but it happens all the time!
