Finger prick test

What is this testing for? Had it done during first trimester screening ultrasound.

    This is my 3rd and the only finger prick I ever got was to check my sugar for GD.

    The nurse told me it was for matching spinal cord blood. I'm not sure what the reason for that is though.

    It was done at the genetics department of the hospital so I doubt it was for iron... but maybe?

    The one for my 1st tri. screening was to determine statistics/ratios of Downs, Trisomy X and one other thing (can't remember). They use this in conjunction with your ultrasound to give you the probabilities.
