Trying to Get Pregnant

I finally get the whole bed to myself!

Hi everyone!

DH is out of town for a few days and I'm SO bored... (hence this post).
However, I am also SUPER excited that I will have the whole bed to myself until Monday!
Call me crazy, but DH is 6'8" and I rarely get more than 25% of our queen sized bed.
Not to mention that he loves to sleep really close together... Erg.
How does your SO annoy you at night? ;)

Re: I finally get the whole bed to myself!

  • I used to live for those nights of having the bed to myself (I'm 5'8, DH is 6'2, and we are both wicked bed hogs)... But we just upgraded to a California king from a queen, and the bed is awfully lonely now when I'm by myself :(

  • My DH loves to sleep in long pants and a sweater. Then we have a sheet, thick wool blanket, an electric blanket, and a comforter on the bed -- and he still complains he is cold!!  I usually just sleep with the blanket and wool blanket and I am baking!  I try not to complain though because he is trying to get a job with an other department which mean he will go back to working nights for a while. As much as having a bed to myself is nice I really miss him when he works the night shift.

  • Hubs works nights 6 days a week, so I actually get obnoxiously excited when we can share a bed. That said, he has narcolepsy, so he does all kinds of fun things on that one night we get to sleep together. He moves around, talks, walks, has been violent a few times (thanks Iraq), sweats like a pig and my personal favorite, sexsomina. That one isn't annoying though. His subconscious has got a freaky side and I love it.

  • Hahaha, omg this thread is killing me!

I'm totally the annoying one in bed. I sleep talk, walk, and generally stage invasions on his side of the bed like he's Poland and I'm Germany.

Fortunately he likes cuddling enough to put up with it, and chases me down when I wander.

I like to bundle up in my comforter. I can't wait until this summer when H gets promoted, we're buying a king bed. H used to snore, but it's better now.

  • Haha it's nice having the bed to yourself!

DH is a snorer but not too bad. It only wakes me up once in awhile. If he is snoring, I usually nudge him and he stops after that.

He claims he "hates" sheets but in the middle of the night I'll find him hogging them and I have like the corner of the sheets to cover me. I need to be in a cocoon of sheets to feel comfortable.

The biggest issue is he slowly makes his way over to my side of the bed, so I wake up and have like, no room in the bed.

  • Since DH INSISTS the pug sleeps with us, I get 1/3 of the bed, with the other 3rds going to DH and our pug Frank. I'm very bitter about this and have been fantasizing about sleeping on the floor

  • I have to get up a lot throughout the night and every time I do he stretches out and decides my pillow is better. so when I go back to bed I get to try to push him back to his side or just lay on top of him until he decides to move. Usually I opt for laying on top of him because it's easier.

OMG I do the same thing!

I sleep curled up in a ball holding my pillow and part of the covers. My husband can't stand the covers tucked in. This week he's been working late and coming to bed after I'm asleep. Two nights ago he comes in yanks the tucked covers on his side and it some how yanked what I was holding and my arm jerked back up hit me in the nose. Nothing better that to wake up to that at 2 am. I LOVE nights that he's on call and sleeps in the guest bedroom.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I hope you enjoyed your bed!

I actually think I'm the annoying one. I hog sheets.

Your DH is 6'8" and sleeps on a queen? Does he fit? My DH is 6'6" and doesn't even like a king sized bed. We have a California King which he really likes.

As for how he annoys me at night, snoring, all the snoring. Sometimes I think he would benefit from one of those sleep studies.

  • My H gets warm during the night and ends up putting his side of the comforter/blanket/sheets on top of me so I wake up drenched in sweat.

He also likes to sleep in the middle of our queen bed, which forces me to sleep right on the edge of my side.

He just may. Especially if he's tired and emotional during the day. I come from a long pedigreed line of midnight freight trains, and when I took the study, I was having apnea so bad that they recommended surgery. It changed my life! H does get amazed that I can still babysnore after the surgery though :p.

Mine does the same except he thinks it's funny to fart under the blankets and tries to put the blanket over my head so I can smell it. He calls it the Dutch Oven. 8-|
DH is a big farter too. When we moved in together he was actually really sick so it was a stinky, farty, diarrhea filled first night together. He gets into bed (after being in the bathroom forever) and before he's even laying down I say "You can never, ever dutch oven me, ever in our lives you have to promise me RIGHT NOW!" He was confused a bit but agreed.

Then he asked what a dutch oven was. Once I told him he laughed his ass off because he knew that he would have done it, but just never knew the name.

We now call it the first rule of our marriage.
  • @divinemsbee we have the same game plan with the separate comforters. We have never managed to sleep one night under the same blanket.

DH and I both have our nighttime quirks. He snores, talks, and straight up moans like he's dying in his sleep every night. I snore obnoxiously, and tend to starfish. Also, I can't fall asleep if we're touching, but apparently my subconscious is a phsycho cuddler.

My husband is the same way! I sometimes have to get out of bed and sleep on the couch because I get a raging headache from his loud snoring in my ear.

Other than that, he's pretty chill. I tend to assert my dominance if the sheets get stolen or if he creeps over to my side of the bed when I'm hot or want to stretch out.

  • SO and I have an agreement that he waits for me to be asleep before coming to bed. He has the ability to fall asleep in 2.1 seconds and then snores loudly. I have to be asleep before hime, otherwise I go to sleep in the guest bedroom.
  • Haha omg these stories are making me laugh. After reading everyone's it reminded me of what DH does BEFORE we fall asleep.

We usually get into bed at the same time. Most of the time I'm exhausted and immediately start trying to fall asleep. DH will have ESPN on TV or something so he'll be sitting up watching it. I like having the TV on but the volume has to be low enough where I can still hear it, but can't understand what they're saying (I'm weird, I know). Then once DH finally settles in to try and fall asleep he will start asking me the most random questions. Mind you, I've been trying to fall asleep for 10-15 minutes already. He will ask me the stupidest questions like "What if farts came out of our mouths and burps came out of our butts?" He's purposely trying to be stupid and trying to make me laugh. I'm so tired by that point I will start laughing hysterically then yell at him that I'm tired and to let me sleep. He will complain about being wide awake, then fall asleep in 60 seconds. I can always tell when he's falling asleep because he will start twitching all over. Then I'm the one left there awake. SO ANNOYING!

  • My hubby is awful :-( I'm a REALLY light sleeper and get really bad insomnia so his habits make it tough for me to get more than 4 hours of sleep in a night.

He starfishes and then will suddenly shove his arms down (elbowing me in the face). He sweats a lot, drools, mouth open and breathing in my face, and the snoring is so loud that even with doors closed, guests can hear him loud and clear across the house. It's really bad. Plus he falls asleep the moment he lays down so I don't even stand a chance to fall asleep first.
  • DH does this weird thing when he breathes sometimes where his breath pops his lips apart with every exhalation. It's drives me nuts.

He also tends to breath in my face, which I can't stand and it forces me to turn over. I have this weird thing about people breathing in my face. I don't want your carbon dioxide, thank you very much.

Except for DS. His breath smells amazing. Oh, to be a baby forever.

  • My husband has to fall asleep with the TV on which drives me CRAZY! He works overnights a lot so I don't deal with it daily, but the nights he's home he always has the TV on and never turns the sleep timer on (like I've asked him to 5686346 times) so that I don't have to wake up to random infomercials blaring through the bedroom. Lately it's been an old man screaming about Jesus at 5am..that's fun.
