Do you think babies can see spirits?

I think I'm watching way too much scary movies...wait I don't. I think I'm thinking wayyy to deep in this. BUT

A lot of people tells me that babies can see like an angel or a spirit and stuff and it scares me. & I wonder, because my 3 month old daughter stares off into one spot and when I try to move her head or distract her it doesn't work. She'll just stare and smile and coo at that same exact spot. My husband and I was thinking maybe it's her guardian angel, but my husband never really believes in that stuff. Then I started to question myself.

Well today I went to my dad's house and brought my daughter and I've noticed EVERYTIME I GO, my daughter cries nonstop. She cries really really bad and we all don't know why. We give her apple juice just in case she's constipated or some gas relief and we rock her and hold her but she will cry. Cause today when we were there and I was holding her trying to get her to stop crying, but she wouldnt. she would not stop at all and this happens everytime and it makes me wonder if something is wrong with my dad's house. As soon as we step in my dad's house my daughter would look around everywhere then bust out a very loud cry like something is hurting her.

My sister tells me that weird things happen in there also. and two years ago my grandma was living there with my dad before she passed away and she kinda was off in the head and it happened when she started to get sick and she would tell us that something was in the house. and it was just weird....

and now that my daughter is here I can never take her to my dad's house. So we were like okay, we have to go maybe she's tired but as soon as we got in the car and drove off she stopped crying and she was back to her normal self. & when we got home she wasnt tired. she was playing and laughing with us. it's starting to scare me really bad.

Are any of you curious about this?

btw, when I say she cries really bad I mean really really bad. no matter who holds her she cries and won't stop until we leave the house.

  • Maybe she's crying bc you are feeding her apple juice
well her pediatrician suggested it. and she was crying non stop so i assumed it was her stomach and she was constipated and her pediatrician suggested to giver her 1/2 oz of apple juice.

When my baby stares off into the distance, I figure he's just fantasizing about putting my I-phone in his mouth or smacking things with his hands and then putting them in his mouth.  That's pretty much what he does all day.

If he cries, it's because he's hungry, over-tired, bored, in a wet/poopy diaper, gassy, in the car seat or has rolled his head into something not soft (like the toy shelf or something).  There has never been an instance where addressing one of these issues has not solved the question of "why is my son crying?"  I think it is likely, that maybe, one of these issues is what making your daughter cry.  He also can pick up on my stress, and when I'm stressed out tends to be a little fussier than normal (because I'm a  little fussier than normal).

It's nice to think about things like "guardian angels" sure, but if your baby is crying I'd probably make sure that their basic needs were met before wondering if it's some kind of bad spirit.  Like all the PP said, it's probably the apple juice.
  • We are struggling with constipation and our pediatrician suggested using Apple juice...sparingly...as well. It does seem to be helping LO. I wouldn't give it unless you know constipation is the issue. But your baby will absolutely be fine having a little apple juice here and there if needed and your pediatrician suggested it.

As for the seeing spirits...I don't believe in that stuff.
  • Does your dad hold her- maybe Shes shy- just a thought. LO hates my MIL and FIL most of the time and cries like nothing I've ever heard. She also does it worse when MIL wears a scent. Doestthe house smell? I, like pp, would make sure all needs are met before I jump to spirits...

  • It's amazing how many people respond to the stupid questions. I can't believe this was actually posted. Next time you should think twice before you hit the post button...
  • You should get someone in to smudge that house.... That sounds more psychologically damaging than CIO.

  • Despite everyone on here not believing in spirits, I definitely do. I always have and I always will. I think young children are more likely to see spirits due to the fact that they are not scared of what other people will think of them once they admit to seeing it. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless she gets older and she is scared by them. Just last night my daughter was looking off in the distance and giggling up a storm. No one was there and there was nothing over there that would make her laugh. I thought it must have been a ghost. Haha.

  • I think ppl need to stop being so disrespectful and judgemental. All she did was ask a question...just saying.

i hear a lot of babies do that and it sounds so normal but i get curious my best friend passed away a couple days before my daughter was born and he knew he was going to pass and told me that he would always watch over my daughter and it makes me wonder if it's him that's she's always staring off at or smiling at. while i was pregnant he always talked about making sure i tell him when im about to give birth. and i know my daughter would have loved him so much. but yeah i get curious because i took my daughter to my dad's house again yesterday and she just wouldnt stop crying and i got so tired and told my husband to lets go home she's getting fussy she stopped as soon as we got into the car.
