Finger Foods Fail

I know it's a little late but we finally tried introducing finger foods to the LO (9 and a half months old).  I tried the puffs and some tiny pieces of cheese.  She grabbed them and eventually moved them up to her mouth but she didn't put them in.  Then I tried putting them in her mouth and she spit them right out.

How long did it take your LOs to get used to finger foods?  Should I wait a little while before reintroducing or should I keep trying?  She grabs at them the right way and the doctor said that she is ready for them.

Re: Finger Foods Fail

  • I would always offer her them on the tray...she'll be curious and eventually she'll know what to do.  Also show her how you pick up a piece and chew!

  • Offer away - DD played with finger foods for a week, then figured out how to get them in and spit them out, and eventually how to mouth/chew and swallow... it takes some exploration time, but she'll get used to it! GL!

  • Jack started eating them right away, but its not strange for a baby to want to king of explore them for a while first.  Let her play with them while she sees you guys eating, eventually she will probably start eating it!

  • We started trying with finger foods about a month ago.  At first it was nothing.  Then only puffs.  Then about a week ago he tried stuff and now only wants finger foods!  Just keep offering.  One day she will just decide she wants them!
