Baby bullet baby food maker

Anyone have this? My mil bought one for us for Christmas but I wanted to know how helpful, practical, useful they actually are. I love to cook so she figured this would be right up my alley and she's right, but I was just planning on using my small food processor. Thanks!!

My SIL got it. She loves it and uses it for all her homemade baby food. She is going to let me use it this time around.

I used it for my first daughter to make all of her food. You don't actually need it and can just use a food processor, but I liked it. It came with a little recipe book which was helpful. It also came with some little containers I used to store her food. It was fun to make her food.

I mad DS food about once a month and froze it. Because of this, I wanted a large one so the baby bullet was way too small and my regular food processor was perfect. If you plan on making it fresh daily, it'd be fine. I think it may be a PITA if you want to make large quantities at a time.

My SIL gave me hers, she said they only used in a couple times, but they both work long hours and aren't really the type of people who would get use out of the baby bullet. I will be home M-F and work weekends, so I will have plenty of time for this, it's right up my alley!

I use it for the baby I nanny. It's better to have a separate food processor for baby, and not use the one you would use for your own food. If baby has allergies to foods, especially ones you haven't introduced yet, you wouldn't know if you used yours. Even though you wash it... You never know. The mom of the baby I nanny is very insistent that I only use his for him, and theirs for anything I blend for me.

I feel like the baby specific bullet is kinda gimmicky and a regular bullet or food processor is just fine.

Since it was a gift I'm going to give it a try. I wasn't planning on registering for one but I was looking into a steamer. Im glad so many have had positive experiences with them. Thanks for all of the thoughts and opinions.

I had one w ds, but a silicone ring that goes around the blade part came loose and got shredded in some pairs, I called and complained and then got my money back. I was so pissed at the time but in hind sight I think if you are really careful about making sure all the parts are securely screwed down it won't happen.
Also I wouldn't bother buying more of their containers. They are so cute but so overpriced compared to other containers out there

We did BLW with DD and will do it again with this LO. If I were making purees, I'd probably just stick to using the food processor and/or blender I already have (I use both constantly).

It's a relatively new "thing" (by that I mean something that now has a label and is marketed as a "parenting phenomenon") although I'm sure moms have been doing it for centuries. I love BLW!

I was previously unfamiliar with baby led weaning. Does it eliminate pureed foods all together? Can they be given as an option when the baby starts self-selecting foods at 6 months? It's not at all uncommon for us to do pureed foods for adults (like parsnips, for example) and I'm wondering if things like that could be offered to baby as well.

Also, what about pureed soups? Potage crecy (a French pureed carrot soup) and things like that are very popular in our house.

I mean, I suppose parents can do whatever they want, but I'm wondering if inclusion of these sorts of foods is somehow in opposition to the method. It's very interesting.

We got one with dd and used it a few times but yea I think a blender or something like that would work just as well

Babies are only eating purees for a few months - it's such a brief stage that I think it's silly to buy a special product for it.

I am inclined to agree with @LalaMama81. My DD was never willing to eat purees, despite many attempts and trying lots of different brands, flavors, etc. She transitioned directly to "regular" food. We essentially had no choice but BLW, and buying a special product would have been a waste of money for us.

We got it as a gift for LO1 and I used it all the time. LO loved the purees and it makes yummy smoothies, too!

That is good to know about the containers because my MIL bought the display and the cups are missing so I will need to get something to replace them.

We make 100% of DS's pureed baby food using the regular old blender. We made large-ish batches of purees frozen in ice cube trays then popped out and kept in freezer storage bags - he would get 2-3 cubes per meal at first and it worked well to mix and match many of them, like carrots + potatoes). It would drive me crazy to have to mess with cooking purees every day.

I don't see much point to a baby bullet, and it strikes me as mostly a marketing ploy. Seems just like a less durable blender/food processor. FWIW, DS and I both work full time. It's not a large time investment and like others have said, they aren't eating purees for all that long.

I just read up on BLW and it sounds interesting. I guess I'm just wondering what if any is the downside to feeding babies puréed food? Also where do you mamas get your pouches from? Sounds so much more economical and healthy to make my own instead of buying the prepackaged ones from the grocery store.

BLW is definitely a new concept to me and I have a few questions.. At what age can you start blw? Also, do the need to have their teeth in before? I'm sorry, that seems like a silly question but I am not familiar with this at all.. Also, how do you know they are getting enough? Thanks so much!

This is what I planned to do until I got this for Christmas. I figured bigger batches would be better and the ice cube trays are cheap and simple. But like I said, I'll try it since I have it. If I don't like it I don't have to use it.

I'm by no means an expert, but we started BLW about 7(ish) months and he started grabbing little pieces of food off my plate. His main nutrition was breastmilk and bascially those early "meals" was more learning for him than anything else, but he is the least picky of all three of my kids.

Lol shows how much I know!! In all honesty, I though you were no longer breast/formula feeding and just giving baby the food they were choosing to eat. I would have had one hungry baby on my hands lol thanks for all the answers! So much to learn still

We did some BLW but also some purees made in the regular blender. We used pouches out and about and I'd like to get the reusable ones this time.

up until he was 1, his main food source was breastmilk.

True. When I said we started BLW at 7 months, I meant that up until that point, he had no interest in what we were eating. He was around 7 months when he noticed there was good things happening at the dinner table
