OMG Food!

I feel like the only way to keep from being nauseous is to eat constantly but I feel so full. I am keeping it in moderation (I hope..) ie: I had a little bag of chips then an hour later a stick of string cheese, another hour later some yogurt. Then I had lunch. I've manage to wait almost 2 hours from lunch to have a Odwalla bar now.. and I'm out of food until I get home at 11:30. I've read that eating is one of the best ways to prevent nausea and so far so good. I haven't had any m/s but its still early (I'm in my 6th week). But I feel so full.. I'm not sure if I'm actually full and stuffing myself (which is why I try to keep snacks small and wait at least an hour between them) or if its just the feeling of fullness because of all the growth going on.
Anyone have other tips for cutting back nausea or snacks to try if I am eating constantly? (Note: I haven't been eating every hour of the day... this is since being at work.) We just moved and I really need to stock up the fridge with veggies and fruit and good for me snacks, that I'm not buying at work.
(Also sorry for any typos.. I'm on my phone. Hard to proof read on it and I noticed earlier it was deciding to do double letters at the start of each word. Think I fixes them all, but if I missed one, my bad.)

Re: OMG Food!

  • We just had two Christmas dinners... and I'm sitting here feeling like I could go for a snack. I'm 7 weeks and wondering if I really NEED to be eating this much right now. From what I've read, the nutritional needs of my little blueberry aren't much at this point in time. I know that will change as the weeks go by but I don't want to start overeating now. Yet so far, the keep-food-in-my-stomach-at-all-times technique has been working to keep nausea away.
I'm actually looking forward to grocery shopping this weekend and stocking up on easy to snack on fruits and veggies, and cheeses and crackers. Need to figure out which cheeses I can eat..

  • I'm in the same boat--I feel insanely and ravenously hungry every three hours.  I know the caloric intake at this point isn't supposed to be much more than normal, but if I don't eat something i feel like I'm going crazy.  I try to eat snacks with lots of protein to fill me up, but sometimes the snack attack comes and I eat whatever is around (not the healthiest).

  • The past 3 days have been a bit better for me. Haven't felt like I needed to eat as constantly for nausea reduction.. but it is still my go to solution when I do feel nauseous.  Also, finding a holiday tub of popcorn in my office the other night was seriously the highlight of my day.

  • I am at 6 weeks and having the total opposite symptoms! I am finding that food makes my nausea worst. I was told many women actually lose weight in the first trimester due to food aversions. I feel like I am stuffed after eating the smallest amount of food. If I try to eat a full sized meal I am sick all day long. I will say that I have been having STRONG cravings for fresh, cold fruits and veggies, that seems to be what curbs my nausea the best. On Christmas day I snacked a bit with the family but then all I ate for the rest of the day was 2 WHOLE lemons (ate them like an orange!) and 3 tangerines. I normally do not like fruit very much at all!

  • I read about the weight loss due m/s and aversions too.. I don't doubt that it won't still come for me, but for right now I'm grateful to not be having many problems. But it doesn't take a lot of food for me to feel full either. The other day when I had a small snack every hour, I felt sooo full. And my husband had made grilled cheese when I got home. And I'd had a little bag of chips an hour or so earlier, and then wanted to cry because the grilled cheese was perfect and delicious and I couldn't finish it. I haven't had any cravings (at least, not the sort of oddball cravings like weird combos or a certain food for the nutrients, but like "Heyy, a chocolate covered cherry sounds great right now") or aversions, but my husband pulled some left over soup out of the fridge the other night and took a bite of it cold and I nearly gagged. I made him heat it up.
