Unpopular: I don't think babies should be watching TV this young. I don't think they should have 'favorite shows' or 'shows that put them to sleep' or 'calm down'. It actually concerns me that TV has that effect on babies this young because I would guess that means they have watched a lot of TV by now!
I tend to agree. I guess each family does what's best for them, but my LO will not be watching TV until at least 2 or 3, maybe later. When we were in line for Santa at the mall, this couple in front of us with a 12 month old was making conversation, and the first question they asked us wasn't "What size is he wearing?" or "What toys does he like?" but instead they asked, "What is favorite show?" We were like, "Ummmm, he doesn't watch TV." They then proceeded to list off like 4-5 shows their son loves. I just remember thinking that's a lot of TV for a 12 month old! Someone in my husband's family also has a son very close to LO's age, and they saw that our LO had a toy Mickey Mouse. The first thing they said was "Does he love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse? Our son loves that show." And then I felt like we sounded all judgy by saying LO doesn't watch TV; he just likes his Mickey toy.
My husband sometimes watches hockey when LO is in the room with the sound off, and we keep LO turned away and I play with him. But the second LO starts trying to turn around and watch the game, the TV goes off.
I don't get all the production over baby's "firsts". Obviously their first steps, words, etc are huge, but it annoys me when people obsess over capturing every moment in the first year with an outfit or photoshoot. Especially with holidays. I mean it's cute to take pictures for an album, and of course I am in love with watching E do things for the first time, but I'm not gonna buy "baby's first st. patrick's day or valentine's day" outfits. It gets exhausting trying to document/highlight every single thing instead of just taking in the moment out from behind a camera. I think some people go overboard with it. I think their "real" firsts are when they start to create memories. It's so much more special when they start to fully understand what's happening. Right now it's really all just for the adults to squee over.
@nykkollaughs, did you stay in room or leave? I am trying and nothing is working. I am ok with fussing and light crying, he just sometimes escalates to the hard crying where he stops breathing and then he quickly gets picked up.
This is mine. He's not one that will stop crying. It just gets worse the longer we wait. I think he's strong willed like me, lord help us.
I have 2 other kids. And, that's not saying that they spend all of their time watching tv. They don't. But, am I supposed to sit him in the other room while DD2 is watching Mickey Mouse or Super Why? ( @nykkolaughs I love that show. Super readers to the rescue!) Probably not. Yes, there are some kids that probably spend some time plopped in front of the tv all day every day. Not cool. And, I don't judge those that don't want their kids watching tv, I get it. But, my 6 month old loves him some Mickey Mouse.
We have the tv on a lot of the time. Lilly doesn't really take any notice of it.
We have the tv on most of the time but Julia doesn't watch it. She may look at it for a second but that's it. There's no way I could sit her in front of the tv to keep her occupied because she's just not that interested in it.
I have the TV on for the majority of the day. It's background noise. N doesn't really seem to care for it too much. Something might grab her attention for like 30 seconds but that is it. We spend most of the day playing with toys, doing tummy time, etc. She doesn't have a good attention span so we move on to things quickly. The only time she 'watches' tv is when her and DH cuddle before bed.
@gigglejiggle you're not a bad mom! We're heading in that directional as well. I waited 2 mins and went in there and he started crying harder. Guess I need to wait a little longer next time but it's so hard
I didn't read all the words because I'm watching Scandal, so here goes:
Eggnog is terrible, as is snake skin everything. LOTR is amazeballs and @jancandance I'll take your video monitor to spy on my rambunctious toddler.
My UO is I hate working out so much that I would rather get lipo. I wouldn't even feel guilty, nor do I care about "working hard" to lose the weight. All I want is to be my old self, and I'm impatient. Confidence doesn't come easy.
uo - ftm's who don't admit that they don't know everything! I'm a frickin ftm, I have no idea what comes next! and if you say you do, you're a lying liar who lies! -and if you make me feel like crap for not knowing, you suck even more!

Really, any mom who thinks she knows everything is annoying! I am figuring out what works for Amelia, but I'm sure the next kid will be different and I will always be learning!
Ok I typed my response twice now and it disappeared. Why does TB hate me these days?!?
Anyway, quoting @sctiger...my kids are worlds apart, especially in regards to sleep. What worked for M does absolutely nothing for R. I'm still trying to figure him out and it's been pretty rough. Completely different than M.

Haha, I posted my response in the wrong post.
@kellenhi21 it honestly takes me a week before I realize she's in a new phase or leap. Then I'm like... "Duh."
Lol when I read the other thread first I thought I accidentally posted my uo in the wrong thread too since you replied there. Lol. Now I got it
