So I posted here when I was worried after my 1st tri blood work came back elevated for Down's syndrome. Took the verifi test and it came back negative. At my 16 week appt OB took blood work again telling me it was for spina bifida and NTDs. Got a call today saying those came back fine but now I am 1 in 89 for downs. She said the verifi is only 98-99% effective. Huh, really? Now I am back on the worry train again. This is my first pregnancy after 2 losses and I was just starting to feel in the clear. Why can't they just leave me alone??

    That's weird. The geneticist who we talked with before getting our blood test done said we would still do the 2nd tri blood test for spina bifida, but that any chomosomal results from that test would be considered invalid because the MaterniT21 test was so much more accurate. I haven't taken the second tri blood test yet. I'm sorry you are getting conflicting info. Did you meet with a geneticist before taking the Verifi test? I would call their office and try to speak with them about it.

    I did not meet with one before taking the verifi. With my 2nd loss I had a cystic hygroma and met with her and had extensive counseling. We ended up not having any chromosomal issues. However, I may give her a call because she was really good and thorough. I did a google search on false negatives and could only find one person on babycenter which is really low. I am just so sick of worrying. Getting that call was another knife in the chest.

    ((hugs)) Praying that it is just showing higher odds and that is all. My blood work showed that and everything turned out fine.

     

    BFP#1 05.2005- didn't know I was pg until m/c.

    Those tests can have false positives and false negatives. I wouldn't let it worry you to much. Just enjoy your pregnancy and educate yourself just in case. I have a sister with downs so my risk is always high but this is what helps me.
