At what point, if any, would you take LO to the doctor for congestion?
DS has had chest congestion all week, but it's not getting worse or better. No fever, and he is sleeping decently with Motrin. I feel like the first time mom who takes him in more than necessary.
Re: Congestion question
Does your pediatrician take calls during office hours to answer questions? If it's been an entire week and he doesn't have a fever, you probably don't have to take him in but it may be a good idea to call the dr and talk to him/her directly.
Simple chest congestion can turn into something serious like bronchitis so it's worth giving the dr a call. If he needs to be seen the MD will tell you to come in.
But I am the mom who takes her kid in for everything and has the ped just shake his head at me. So take him in if it will give you some peace of mind. Hope he feels better soon!
I called a couple days ago and talked to the nurse. She suggested the Vicks and Motrin, along with elevating part of his bed, but I didn't do the bed part.
Thanks for the suggestions - I will google that stuff! If it's not better today we will go in.
