1st Trimester

How far along am I?

Hi Ladies,

A quick intro.  I'm 37 and had TTC for 6 cycles (one ended up in MC).

I got my BFP on Christmas eve (14 DPO).  I am not sure on how to calculate how far along am i yet.  I had a very long cycle, usually it's around 32 days but this time I ovulated really late (Ovulated at CD 24, BFP at CD 38).  So today is CD 41 (which is close to 6 weeks if I calculate from LMP) but how can it be if I just got my BFP 3 days ago, a faint one at that?

I am thinking I should be 4.5 week away, counting from Ovulation day + 2 weeks?   Will this be more or less accurate?
Also, in my last pregnancy (that ended up in MC), I had sore boobs right away.  This time, I had no symptoms (a bit bloating and slight cramp here and there).   I keep testing everyday and so far, I think the line is about the same or getting slightly darker.  Hoping this one sticks.

Re: How far along am I?

  • Yes, count ovulation day plus two weeks. Good luck with your pregnancy and congrats!

  • If you know your insemination date, then use that. If not, use the first day of your last period.

You are correct.  Count back two weeks from ovulation and that is how far along you are.  It's confusing, but I'm thankful for the freebie weeks!  Congratulations!!!

  • 4.5 weeks sounds about right. You were charting, right? So take that ovulation date and add 2 weeks. It doesn't matter how long you went between your LMP and ovulation.

Be prepared for your doctor to tell you something different until they've verified with a dating u/s. My doctor gave me a different date based on LMP until we had a dating u/s, and surprise, I was right! I'd been charting and knew when I ovulated, so my EDD was right on and hers was not.
    All of this.
  • Thank you all.  Yes, I am charting, that's why I am absolutely convinced that I am O'd at CD 24.  My temp is accurate and I also did OPK.  I was just afraid that I'm behind in my HCG or baby's measurement down the road due to LMP calculation.

I think I will bring my chart to my first Dr appointment.  Thank you ladies!
