bruised cervix

Hi ladies! I'm entering the second trimester and I have been bleeding for quite some time. I had my us yesterday and they told me that I had a bruise on my cervix and that's the culprit. Has anyone else had this experience? Btw baby is fine and healthy I'm just curious as to why or how it could happen. Thanks in advance!
