Worst Gifts/IL Gifts

Alright, I'm starting a contest. Who can claim the worst/tackiest/weirdest gift received? I was just going to make it gifts from IL's, but I didn't want to limit it. And yeah yeah, it's the thought that counts, there are starving children in Africa who would love our gifts, whatever.

My entry: MIL sent me a bedazzled contact lens case. I do not wear contacts or glasses.

  • We got a 5x3 cutting board. We have a huge kitchen and still no where to store it. I mean, really, who needs that big of a freaking cutting board?

  • Dh and I got blue and pink wii controllers from FIL and SMIL... They asked if we were all set up and ready now....? We already have 2 remotes and we do not play the wii...only use it for Netflix. It wasn't a bad gift... we just have little use for them.

I got anti-wrinkle cream from the IL's... She also did this at my 25th birthday. Her premise is sweet. She says she wants to keep my face pretty...lol but still

Huh? ... was there danger of your face not being pretty?

She says that she wishes that she would of used creams with sun protectant in it. When she was still young. So I think she is trying to protect me for old age??

My MIL gave DH and I a joint gift. It's a hot dog toaster. You put two hotdogs and two buns in and it toasts them. They pop up when they're done. We don't really eat hotdogs much but now I have to keep the damn thing because she will definitely ask about it next time she's here. She also got LO a flower pot from the grocery store, because a flower pot is way more practical than clothes or toys for a 2 1/2 month old.

Mmmm hotdogs. This I would have really liked.

MIL got us a gallon of olive oil, a block of Parmesan, and a roll of hard salami.

They're Italian though and she almost cried when she saw we were buying great value brand olive oil. It's cheaper. Lol
I'll trade you! Yours sounds better to me lol

She definitely gifted it with the best of intentions, and the cream is pretty nice so no complaints here, but definitely funny!

  • My mil gave the baby two broken and dirty toys from a yard sale. I don't mind things from yard sales mind you, but this was just a little strange.

  • My inlaws present for DD3 was nothing. There were big presents for DD1 and 2. And our 5 month old niece got presents too. But Margaret got nothing. In fact, Margaret hasn't gotten a single present from my inlaws. But my MIL goes into detail telling me about all the stuff she buys and makes for everyone but Margaret.

Yep. Completely broken and one was missing parts. I didn't even know what to say but I'm sure my face said it all.

Does it have to do with a KU thing? I can't remember if your a fan or not. And I know Jayhawks are not Chickens. It's just a really weird gift. Maybe if you kept chickens or confederate flags around great.

I vote for picture of the hot dog toaster. Sounds amazing!

  • This year, MIL gave me two individually wrapped bars of soap, two tubes of hand lotion, an apron, a cutting board, file folders (every year she does that), cocktail napkins... just random stuff. I guess since I'm a SAHM, she thinks all I need is house related stuff... and that I need to bathe and enjoy a cocktail :) haha

She also sent $ towards a pump or jogging stroller so that was nice, the random stuff is just funny to me.

No. Just something she thought he would genuinely like. She's a bit different when it comes to gift giving...
