DS seems to have found his voice...

So DS has taken to yelling quite a bit this week - it doesn't sound like crying... It sounds like he's trying to make sounds and is experimenting with volume. I make the same sounds back and we go back and forth so I think it's all in good fun...

The only thing is that sometimes he gets so loud that I think it's making him start to cough. Anyone else run into this? Is it normal? Is there anything I can/should do to prevent the cough?

I'm torn because i don't want to discourage him from vocalizing but also don't want him to hurt his throat.

TIA!

  • I bet it's normal :) at least that's what I've told myself.
  • Loading the player...
  • I'm sure it is. Just not sure when he starts to cough. I guess I'm just being a worrywart again!
  • He'll be fine.

  • DS hasn't started shrieking yet, but I remember when my godson was this age he would randomly scream at the highest decibel and volume. I think it's normal, but I really hope DS skips it ;). Otherwise I may need to invest in ear plugs
  • LO has a very high pitched squeal. It can be cute but not at 5am when she wakes up and decides to play around in her crib and make all kinds of noise.

  • I didn't even think of early morning yelling. Looks like we're in for a whole new world of fun.

I love the pterodactyl sound - that's exactly what it sounds like!
  • We have the same thing going on here. I think it's normal.

  • My LO's cough is often because of choking on his drool. Lol. Can't do much about that. He loves "singing."

  • No advice for you but sometimes my DS gets upset, cries and I swear shouts at me after he is comforted.

When he is happy he breaks out the pterodactyl screeching.

Yesterday I caught him trying to talk/sing to a song. As soon as I turned the song off to let my DH hear him, it was like crickets chirping. Silence.

I would let your baby work it out on their own. Just consider it a baby experiment.
