popping feeling when lifting

A couple of times over the past week when getting my son (32lbs) out of his carseat I have felt a sort of painful popping on my right side, about 3 inches above my belly button. It hurts for a few minutes and then goes away. I'm assuming it's a muscle strain of some sort, but will ask my dr. About it on Monday. Anybody else experience something like this?

Re: popping feeling when lifting

  • I've felt something sort of like that, but different.  For me, sometimes lifting my son or carrying something else kind of heavy, I feel something close to the surface of my stomach that's kind of like when you hit your elbow just right and kind of like a finger running a couple inches over my skin very firmly.  It doesn't hurt, it just feels really weird.  I emailed the midwives and they said the baby inside or my son outside or something about how I lift him sometimes might be hitting a nerve weird and that's what's causing the feeling for me.  My pain tolerance is pretty high, so it might be the same thing as what you're feeling.

  • I have been feeling this very often when I lift DD in her car seat. I keep asking my OB but I can't describe the feeling, so he just generalizes and tells me there are lots of pains and if there's no bleeding, then there should be no concern. I'm interested in hearing what your OB tells you.
