My favorite gift I got was my Canon EOS T3 Camera! I love it!  Now I just gotta figure out how to use it....
Weirdest gift was sponges in my stocking from MIL.  I'm not sure what she's getting at.  My SIL got some, too. so weird.

We had 3 days of parties and lots of new people, so LO was definitely warn out by the end of the day yesterday. She has been very attached to me lately. She will let others hold her, but when she wants me to take her, she will cry and won't settle down for anyone until I take her, and then she's fine. In the morning, when we were at the IL's house, she started crying and I knew it was because she wanted me to take her.  MIL refused to give her to me.  She was sitting on the couch and kept saying "she's fine mama, she's fine".  All while LO is screaming so hard she wasn't breathing.  My SIL was sitting next to her and kept saying "go away, leave her alone, she's fine! She's a spoiled baby because you won't let others take her!".  Um, excuse me?  She's a baby. I'm her mother.  I'm not spoiling her by holding her when she wants me.  I walked away and tried to keep my cool, but after another couple minutes of her screaming non stop, I finally said "that's it, I'm taking her", and forced her out of MIL's arms.  She quieted right down after that.  MIL then went to the basement and started crying, because "I'm just Grandma, I apparently can't do anything....".  Ughhhhh. such drama.
I can't even imagine. Yes... she is JUST Grandma. AND you're mama! WTF?! I don't have the patience for that. Let her cry alllll she wants.

(ETA: Let g'ma cry, not the baby. Derrr.)

Yesterday, I gave my sisters and niece the recordable books my mom read out loud. There were a lot of tears and smiles. My niece who is 3 and a talker got quiet and listened to the entire book twice. My mom tailored each book by adding stuff to the stories for each grandchild. There's a part where my mom added to the story and said "Oh and our cinnamon rolls don't forget those, yummm!" M smiled a sweet smile and you could tell she missed her grandma.

My sister hosted Christmas and made all of my mom's dishes to the T, if I closed my eyes I could pretend she made it.

I could feel her presence yesterday and it ended up being better than I expected.

**I know this post is supposed to be about what you received but I LOVE giving gifts and this year was special.

Very special. That will be a sweet memory for you and your family in the years to come. <3<3

  • We went to ILs for a week before XMas, and I AM SO GLAD. We do not get along all that well, so it was awesome getting that "out of the way." Christmas day was perfect. We woke up early, had coffee and mimosas. We didn't tell each other what we got LO, so we were surprised as "she" opened them. DH got me a beautiful birthstone necklace of august. Then we went to my parents house and met my brother/SIL/nephew, Had a great lunch and opened gifts. Last night we drank wine and watched Love Actually. Best Christmas we've had yet married!

Ugh, MIL (andSIL) sound fun! ;) You handled that well! I can't wait to hear/see pics from the cannon. We are hoping to get one soon too.

  • Had an awesome morning at home, then headed to MIL's which was torturous as usual, and we came home to an explosion of toys and boxes in our living room that I'm still trying to sort through.

DD got two kitchens for Christmas, one from step-MIL who lives down the street and one from MIL who lives an hour away. Can't return either one because they assembled them. So I'm stuck in a pickle! Luckily DD loves them both and has been happily playing with them all morning. But, I would not have chosen either one and don't have room for them and I really don't want to have to explain the situation to either MIL! I feel like I'm being ungrateful but I'm also annoyed at both MILs for not checking with me before getting something so large, and I'm sad I can't get DD the kitchen I planned to get her for her birthday after we move to our new house. Both MILs refused to keep their kitchen at their house for her to play with so now I feel like I'm going to have to hide a kitchen whenever either MIL comes over!

On a happier note, DS gave me the best gift ever by sttn for the first time in his 4.5 months last night! It was amazing!
  • I got diamond earrings and a new crock pot. The earrings are awesome.. The crck pot should've been a family gift since all benefit from the food it cooks! Ha.

Luckily no IL stories, it was pretty tame. Well, actually DH's grandparents were kind of assholes explaining my sons condition to other family members.. But I think they meant well..?
