I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow. This is my first pregnancy. For the past week I haven't slept a full night. Just 5-6 hours. Before the pregnancy I slept 8-9 hours a night. Is this normal? I love my sleep!!
Yup. I'm 10 weeks and I have daytime fatigue and insomnia. Makes for a fun combination! I used to wake up around 2am, and more recently my body wakes me up at 4am. Sometimes I'm up for an hour, sometimes only a few minutes. You'll get through it. Congrats!!
Tried to conceive since September '12. Received fertility treatments since May '13 - September '13. No specific dx. 4 failed IUIs and one successful IVF! BFP 11/8/13! 1st beta: 200
I've got the insomnia bug too!! I just found out I was pregnant last Saturday and it was confirmed Christmas eve with a blood test at my regular doctor. 5 weeks tomorrow!
4 weeks 1 day here and I had insomnia pretty much from the moment I got my BFP last week. Its gotten better over the last couple of days, but I'm not looking forward to how it gets after I go back to work.

I have tried benadryl for nights I was up until 4-6. I was on ambien before I got pregnant for insomnia and got off of it until just recently when my ob told me to start taking it again because sleep is important. It's 5 mg but i actually slept until 5 instead of finally falling asleep AT 5
I have had about a week of this middle of the night wake up crap too. I can't tell if it is pregnancy related or just my mind racing now that I know I'm pregnant. I think we all start going through our "to do lists".
the fact that my body is insisting I nap like crazy often means I sleep like crap at night.
Current pregnancy - First BFP on 1/4/22. Due date 9/13/22.
Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.
I was this way the entire first week after finding out we were expecting. I saw that awesome pillow for women further into their pregnancy and thought it would be comfy either way. So I just bought a cheap body pillow and have slept with that in between my legs- totally helped. I don't know if it's because it makes me feel like I am snuggling without all the extra heat of actually snuggling my husband. It could also be because I am SO bloated at bedtime that sleeping on my tummy is out of the question, but as long as I have that body pillow I am sleeping fine. I also nap on a daily basis for pretty much as long as I can. Listen to your body, if you can, sleep when you're tired. That little bundle of nerves needs so much of our energy!
I had this a lot last pregnancy, but I don't remember it starting this early. So far for me (this time), I just can't get back to sleep if/when my son wakes up in the middle of the night. He goes right back to sleep and I am up for an hour.
It's normal. Had it with my first pregnancy. I listened to books on tape. Sometimes it helped my mind to settle down and just concentrate on that. Then eventually it would lull me to sleep.
