Re: **Third-Party Reproduction Check-In - Dec. 22**

  • Thanks for the hugs! I decided to cancel half of the back-to-back IUI and just do a single day. If it was meant to be, then it was meant to be.
I just had the IUI this morning and realized it so wasnt worth all that stress.
Im so so happy to see all the pregnancies on this board. Hope the good news keeps coming!

QOTW: I'm anxious to see other posts. I want to start a new tradition. Im thinking of making homemade marshmallows and sitting by the fireplace in my new pajamas and watching some christmas movies with dh and some hot cocoa.

  • Hi guys,

No real news with us.  Still doing research and exploring the different options as far as GCs go.  My SIL actually brought up the idea of carrying for us, which I was so thankful for.  It was a conversation starter, not a "I'll definitely do this," but still, positive news.  However, she just had a baby in July so I'm not sure how the timing would work out.  We're so anxious to get started, but I obviously don't want to pressure her to do this before she is ready, if she decides to do it.

I'm also researching surrogacy in India.  Does anyone have any advice as far as that goes?

QOTD: This Christmas is going to be a tough one, given our fertility woes.  Also, my dad died in January so this will be the first Christmas w/out him, which is the hardest part for me right now.  He was so central to all our Christmas traditions.  We are planning to do our usual church and party w/ family friends on Christmas Eve, and then we're going to hang w/ my family and drink heavily. :)

Good luck to everyone, I know this time of year can be hard!

  • @pooniki - Sorry it's been such a rough, stressful cycle, but congrats on the IUI! FX this is it!

    I'm 5w5d with an EDD of 8/20.

I'm doing pretty well, Enough symptoms to make it feel real (some waves of nausea, starting to need naps, cramps, etc.) - but not debilitating so I can hopefully enjoy the holidays. But whatever, bring it on baby.

We have our first u/s and MFM appt. on Thursday - praying for a hb and that all looks appropriate. I'll be 6w1d and last time, baby had a hb of 111. I will start the Lovenox which sounds about as fun as a hot poker to the eye, but I've read up and it seems ice packs 10 min. before, slowly injecting and pressure after minimize the burning and bruising. I'm fine to do this of course if it means preventing another loss. But will admit I'm not psyched about it. :( I'm also getting a thyroid check today so that is in the system when I see the MFM - my TSH was 1.41 which is crazy high for me but still within range, just weird since last pregnancy there was no impact and I stayed around .5-.7 the whole time.

QOTW: My mom is making her sister's lasagna recipe for xmas eve (my aunt died almost 2 years ago now so this is honoring her); and I'm hosting Christmas dinner. My dad shipped us a $70 ham from Smith's in Erie, PA where I'm from - super sweet of him! So I'm trashin' it up the way my Poppy did with beer, 7-up, pineapple rings and maraschino cherries with a brown sugar rub.  J got a 'gift' of a pan of pre-made super-upscale mac & cheese from Beecher's in Pike Place Market, so I'm doing that + a veggie. Boom. :) Super excited for Christmas weirdly enough...

Sending lots of hugs to the many who need them.

AFM: I am going to pick up the GC contract at 11:30 today, so if our GC and her attorney find it acceptable then we are done until 30 days prior to transfer.

QOTW: We are just trying to make it through the next week or so. We FINALLY got the tree decorated last night, then mh broke down in tears. We are going to church and then spending Christmas day hanging with a friend recovering from surgery.

I was on lovenox for my last two pregnancies. It's not so bad once you get used to it. I had automatic inject syringes, so it was actually a quick injection...basically just hold it to your skin and press the button. That definitely made it easier for me. Good luck with the shots :)

  • Update: 37 weeks tomorrow!  Still having a very uncooperative little man during the non-stress tests but he is doing well and we can't wait until he gets here. I am still on bed rest but at this point, all I want to do is sleep anyway (not that I am able to, but at least I have the option...lol).

QOTD: we are just going to be hanging out at home for Christmas since I can't travel. Usually we spend Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day with DH's. I think I will enjoy the quiet this year, though. My family is huge, crazy, and loud.

I think I missed the last check-in because things are cray cray around here... Hugs to pooniki!

I'm 7w5d today and had our second ultrasound. It was amazing. They even gave us a couple of stuffed animals with the baby's heartbeat recorded inside to take home. I never even knew they had something so cute as a memento. We are still nervous before each appointment, but I feel reassured once that little heartbeat shows up on the screen. We have one more appointment with the RE next Monday, then I officially graduate to the OB. Our first appt with him in Jan 9. I still can't believe this is really happening. There are pics and videos on my blog in siggy if you're interested.

QOTW: Normally we have a tradition of having "surf and turf" for Christmas Eve. Crab legs and rotisserie steak. But my food aversions have turned me off to crab and shrimp big time, so we decided to make it easy and ordered tamales from a local mexican restaurant. I also usually make a big blow-out Christmas meal, but I'm on call for work this year and feeling super tired so I dialed it back a bit. I'm even making DH go out and do all the grocery shopping this week. Thank goodness for him!

Jalara is currently in the process of doing surrogacy in India.  She has a great blog and is a great resource (check out her siggy in a reply in this post).

9/15/14 - Our first son born thanks to donor eggs at RBA after 7 failed own egg IVF cycles.
  • Hugs to all who need them, especially this time of year.  Of course, congrats to all the new and early pregnancies!

I started spotting today so expect to start estrogen in the next few days.  As long as my lining cooperates we will be on schedule as expected for a thaw on 1/10.  It will be here so soon!

We had 2 Christmas parties with both my family and his this past weekend.  We will spend Christmas eve with my immediate family at my brother's and looks like will stay home on Christmas.  Maybe we'll see a movie or something.  It seems all of our past traditions are slowly being lost.  We used to always have a big party on Christmas eve at my parents but the past two years they have taken off to Mexico on or just before Christmas!
