The disappearing positive...?

I must be losing my mind. That, or I've never watched a test develop closely enough before. Please tell me what to think of this...

So I just tested on a walmart cheapie, and immediately as the dye moved across the test, a dark test line appeared. My heart beat fast and I tried not to pay attention to it for a minute or two. Came back, so excited, and the test line had disappeared. It was stark white! I stared at it for a few minutes wondering why that had happened. I never noticed it before on any of my other BFNs.

Not cool. Is this just what the dye does as it passes across the test? Why would a dark line show up and then go away? This wasn't the moving pink line of dye...I know what that looks like, and on this test, the dark line was what that moving dye line left behind. This was the straight, still and even line that is next to the "t" for test line.

Thanks ladies. This has made me super bummed.

That always happens to me with those Walmart ones. I've learned to look away until after three minutes has past. It's a mean, little game.

I too have learned not to watch the test develop for this very reason, as the dye moves across the test if you look at just the right time it looks like that test line is highlighted. Still not pregnant here, unfortunately I've had way too much experience peeing on all the things but still being disappointed in my 17 months TTC. Sorry you've had to experience that cruel trick of the test.

I've never had a cycle where it was worth it to pee on a HPT...but I'm sorry you had to go through that...

I had this happen on two of the Walmart cheapies this cycle. It's awful. But I'm a little relieved to hear that I wasn't losing my mind...I was starting to think I had gone completely insane. Sorry that it got your hopes up. It's a sucky, cruel truck!

That happened to me in October... The line showed up IMMEDIATELY I literally burst into tears I was so happy and shaking... Only to find out it was this same thing that happened to your test.

@janda426 I am so sorry.

I did neglect to mention that what I did to stay "busy" while I waited to double check the test for a minute or two was go get a small bit of wrapping and a ribbon and quietly bring it to our bathroom (DH was in his office) so that I could wrap it as an "early Christmas present" to DH. I was so happy...then I walked back in and was all "where'd it go?! Sad face."

that's such a shitty feeling- I did something almost similar, I ordered "dude you're gonna be a dad" off the amazon app on my phone while I sat on the toilet lol. FX you won't have to wait long before wrapping up a BFP for your H.

I happens to me all the time on IC hpts and opks - as the dye moves across it moves across in a solid line and looks like it might be a test line, but if you keep watching it, it keeps moving across until it's gone. Sorry.

Oh Emerald, that stinks.
It's definitely happened to me. I just stock up on wondfos and if I see anything at all I double check with FRER. The other tests just messed with me too much.
